Alesund is a small but lively city with a unique, modern feel. A rebuilding effort following a major fire in 1904 gave the city its distinctive Art Nouveau – or ‘Jugendstil’ – architectural style, defined its ornate details, asymmetrical facades and curving forms meant to resemble plants, animals and flowers. From the city park, walk up the 418 steps to the city’s peak, Aksla – you’ll be rewarded with a gorgeous panoramic view on the city, the islands and the rugged Sunnmorsalpane mountain range. Feel the wind in your hair and enjoy the sheer thrill and exhilaration of the skydiving simulator, Ripcord by iFly. If water sports are more your thing you can take on Flowrider, and experience the full force of the waves without leaving the ship. One of the most anticipated features on Anthem of The Sea is the North Star. Elevate yourself both physically and emotionally as you ascend over 300 feet above sea level, in a jewel shaped capsule, revealing 360 degree breath-taking views of the sea.

SeaPlex is the largest and most exciting indoor activity space ever developed at sea. By day the venue offers passengers circus school, flying trapeze and a basketball court, yet by night, SeaPlex transforms into a fantastic night spot with bumper cars, roller skating and even a floating DJ. A wonderful retreat from the lively areas on the ship can be found in Solarium, an adults-only pool found on deck 14.
