Walking in the shadow of the Acropolis in the Agora, you can almost hear the voices of Plato, Socrates and Aristotle arguing about who was the greatest philosopher. In the soaring, subtly curved Doric columns of the Parthenon you see the masterful hand of Pericles, Athens’ greatest general and builder. And in the ethereally graceful bodies of the Karyatids supporting the porch of the Erectheum, you behold the beauty of the immortals. Ancient Athens, the birthplace of democracy and epicenter of western civilization, is a city for all eternity.

The beautiful island of Rhodes (Island of Roses) has a rich and varied history. The beach at Lindos is among the best on the island, whose capital, Rhodes Town is a bustling mecca for both sightseers and shoppers alike. This thriving port provides access to the many beautiful sights on this popular island. On the Eastern coast of Rhodes, poised high above two spectacular bays is the Acropolis of Lindos below which one can find a labyrinth of winding streets and dazzling white buildings. Lindos was once the principal city of the island before the founding of Rhodes Town in 408 BC.

Known in ancient times as Halicarnassus, this was the birthplace of Heredotus and the site of King Mausolu’s Tomb (4th century BC), one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. In the harbor, Bodrum Castle, or the medieval castle of St. Peter, is a fine example of 15th century crusader architecture, and has been converted into a Museum of Underwater Archeology, with remains dating as far back as the Bronze Age.

Dalyan is a town on the Dalyan River, just inland from Turkey’s southwest coast. Across the river from town is the ancient ruined city of Kaunos, with Lycian rock tombs and the remains of a theater. Riverboats connect Dalyan with İztuzu Beach to the south, home to protected loggerhead turtle nesting grounds. To the northwest on the shore of Lake Köyceğiz is the village of Sultaniye, known for its thermal mud baths.

The island of Santorini is perhaps the most breathtaking of all the Greek Islands. Around 1500 BC, a volcanic eruption destroyed the center of the island, leaving a crescent shaped rim of cliffs around a harbor formed in the volcano’s caldera.

Location Hydra, Greece

It looks barren and rocky, but the narrow harbor of Hydra hides a surprise, a town of stately mansions all built around 1800 by blockade runners who had made fortunes outwitting the British during the Napoleonic Wars. Many of Hydra’s merchants were also celebrated naval heroes during the Greek fight for independence from Turkey in the 1820s. Another surprise is that there are no cars, so if you want to see the spectacular view from the Monastery of Ilias you’ll have to ride a donkey to the top.

If you appreciate the art of traditional cruising and want to spend your holiday in intimate yet luxurious surroundings, Star Flyer could be just what you’re looking for.

She’ll take you to enchanting ports of call in the Panama Canal, Cuba and the Western Mediterranean, giving you the opportunity to sample the spice of life and soak up the world’s natural beauty.

Blissfully Relaxed On Board

Star Flyer comfortably accommodates just 170 guests and spans just 360 feet in length, just like her sister ship Star Clipper. Despite her diminutive size, Star Flyer still manages to offer more space in many areas on board than that of a more conventional cruise vessel.  The low passenger occupancy level enables the dedicated and conscientious crew to cater to guest’s every need and offer the essence of ultimate exclusivity.

Life aboard is blissfully relaxed, much like travelling on a private yacht, and you can spend your days lounging around the pool, chatting in the bars or lazing on the bow netting with a cold drink and incredible views. Those with a more adventurous side can climb the sail masts for picture perfect views for miles ahead. High above deck, lookout stations have been created at the first yardarm of each mast. Equipped with safety harnesses, you can observe all the action 60 feet below and look out to sea from the unique angle of a tall sailing ship.

Bask In Your Glorious Surroundings

The two pool scenes are set in ideal locations to simply lay back and enjoy the glistening sunshine of your exotic destinations. Enjoy freshly made cocktails and bask in your glorious surroundings. Alternatively, head for the superb Edwardian-inspired library on board and take a seat close to the Belle Époque fireplace that sits in the centre of the room and lends a country house feeling to one of the most charming areas of the ship.

Day-To-Day Essentials

The Sloop Shop may be small but you’ll be able to find your day-to-day essentials from toothpaste, sun cream plus internet and Wi-Fi cards. You’ll even find a small selection of tasteful cruise wear and souvenirs to satisfy your shopaholic tendencies.

Get Involved

Whilst there is no gym on board, feel free to take a brisk jog or run around the deck and breathe in the sea air. Perhaps you’d even like to join in some trivial fun where even the crew members also get involved? Crab racing contests are a regular occurrence on the ship and have evolved from Star Clippers’ sailing heritage. Activities including light-hearted limbos and scavenger hunts provide a nod to traditional cruising.

Evening Entertainment

Make evening plans with fellow cruise passengers for pre or post-dinner drinks and head for refined entertainment in the Piano Bar, where you can sing along to your favourite songs whilst swaying in your seat or taking to the dancefloor. Alternatively, the indoor/outdoor Tropical Bar on the main deck offers a livelier scene and is perfect for enjoying a great night under the stars.

Star Clippers bring local performers on board throughout your voyage, giving you an authentic taste of the local music and arts of your destination. Rather than enduring repeated Broadway revenues, you can enjoy something a little different and unlike anything you would see on a more conventional cruise.

Have you got a hidden talent? Whether it’s dancing, singing, comedy or something more unusual, get rehearsing as your time to shine will come in Star Flyer’s talent show.

Take A Seat

There are no pre-set seating arrangements in Star Flyer’s dining room, so you may sit where and whom you wish. If you’re wondering about what attire needs to be worn for dinner, this is a matter of your own personal taste as evening gowns and suits are not required.

The main dining room outstanding and offers truly remarkable cuisine that you won’t forget in a hurry. You can enjoy breakfast, lunch, dinner and even afternoon tea, all within sophisticated surroundings and with impeccable service. The atmosphere is one of classic style combined with modern day culinary fare and fine wines from around the world.

If the weather permits you may even get the chance to experience lunch on deck or dig into a beach barbeque cooked by Star Flyer’s very own chefs.

Dress Code

The dress code on board Star Flyer is simple elegant casual attire with emphasis on relaxation. Leave your lavish evening gowns and smartest suits at home, as you they are not required. There is however, no stopping you if you do want to make more of an effort.
