The name of Coruna’s cruise dock – Transatlantic Quay – reflects its location on the northwestern tip of the Iberian Peninsular making it – you might be surprised to learn – the closest European port to New York. It is a charming mixture of old town and new town also with a couple of beaches along the two-mile stretch of coastline it overlooks. The colonnaded Maria Pita Square is at the heart of the old town, with many shops, bars and restaurants all around. There are various fascinating museums including the interactive House of Mankind plus an aquarium and planetarium. La Coruña is also the main Atlantic gateway to one of the most ruggedly scenic regions in Spain – Galicia. Among its attractions is one of the worlds great pilgrimage destinations: Santiago de Compostela, with its Romanesque cathedral.

You cruise right into the heart of historic Cadiz as immediately across the busy Avenida del Puerto from the Spanish port is the main square and shopping area. From there, it is easy to find your own way around this compact city. Behind is the 18th century cathedral (El Nueva) and the view from the top is worth the long climb up its internal stairs. The narrow streets of the old town below are lined by tall Moorish-style houses with flower-decked balconies mixed in amongst some small shops and tapas bars. Cadiz dates back to the 12th century BC so is the oldest continuously inhabited city in the western world but sultry Seville has long since outgrown its neighbour. La Giralda (the bell-tower next to its Gothic cathedral), is in Sevilles historic Jewish quarter which also has the whitewashed houses and exquisitely coloured bougainvillea that everyone associates with this lovely city.

Welcome to Britannia; the biggest and most spectacular cruise ship ever built to sail from the UK. P&O Cruises have pulled out all the stops and sailed past everyone’s expectations with Britannia, and the result combines the incomparable excitement of cruising with the luxury of a five-star hotel.

Britannia Rules The Waves

The name ‘Britannia’ conveys everything P&O Cruises wanted the innovative liner to represent; optimism and heritage, and a determination to embrace the future whilst acknowledging the longstanding traditions and rich history of the past. Britannia epitomises the refined elegance of P&O Cruise’s quintessentially British cruising style and this is highlighted by the stunning 94 metre Union Flag that decorates her bow in a declaration of British pride…Britannia rules the waves.

Welcome Aboard!

P&O Cruises have worked with world-leading interior design experts to turn their ambitious visions for Britannia into a reality and the result exceeds all expectations. Passengers will enter through the ship’s main hub ‘The Starburst Atrium’.

» The flagship

» Over ten places to dine

» Over 10 places to unwind

» Seven entertainment venues

» Eight bars & pubs

» Perfect for families

» Splash zone & Teens’ deck

» Great for adults

» Yoga, pilates & dance classes

» Theatre shows

» Bands, comedy & cabaret

» The Serenity pool

» Luxurious spa & retreat

A statement in what to expect throughout the ship, the commanding three tier atrium is spectacular in design. The sleek curves of the spiral staircase are illuminated by droplets of light descending through its core. A combination of dark wood, neutral décor and opulent furnishings create an interior more usually found in exclusive boutique hotels than throughout the busy hub of a ship. The Starburst chandelier is the focal point of the atrium, cascading from the deep blue ceiling in a shower of mirrored and golden shards. Its sheer scale will amaze you and inspire conversation with acquaintances old and new.

The boutique styling continues throughout the ship, not least in the sumptuous cabin that is to become your home from home. Each cabin is decorated with soothing colours, bespoke artworks by British artists and sleek flat screen TVs for films on demand. If you’d rather watch the ocean than the latest release, fear not, for all outdoor rooms have private balconies. There are 27 single cabins too, many of which also have their own balcony. Britannia’s suites elevate luxury accommodation to the next level and include a dedicated butler service for the duration of your trip.

From ‘Me Time’ to ‘Play Time’

Britannia opens up a whole new world of ways to spend your sea days and amidst the excitable chatter there are two words we promise you’ll never hear: ‘I’m bored’. Britannia offers everything from ‘Me Time’ to ‘Play Time’, and everything in between, taking on board activities beyond anything that has ever been offered before.

Ample opportunity to cool off under the warm sunshine is provided by four pools: will you head to the lively main pool with its pop jets and plenty of space to sunbathe? Perhaps you’d prefer to head for the aft of the ship and enjoy the beautiful Lido area, the perfect sunlit space to enjoy a swim followed by lunch with friends. Those looking for a peaceful retreat can relax at the Serenity pool, a designated ‘quiet zone’ offering incomparable relaxation.

Discover Nirvana at the Oasis Spa, the most magnificent spa ever created on board a P&O ship. Bathed in dark wood panelling and deep black marble, fragranced with the aroma of scented oils, and with more treatment options and state-of-the-art facilities than ever before, the Oasis Spa is the most luxurious on the ocean.

Enjoy spa treatments with a sea breeze at The Retreat, Britannia’s alfresco spa terrace. Sink into your personal cabana and bathe in the relaxed atmosphere of this adults-only area. There are massage tables and an exclusive pool area to enjoy during the day, before you relax with a glass of bubbly beneath the stars at night.

With delicious food available in abundance on Britannia, the opportunity to redeem yourself after an evening of exquisite indulgence is often a welcome one. Sport and fitness enthusiasts will relish Britannia’s facilities. Work out in the state-of-the-art gymnasium, get involved in a fitness class, lap the Promenade with the sunset as your backdrop or head to the arena to show some team spirit with a game of tennis, cricket or football.

Cook With The Finest Names In Food

How many cruise liners can say they give you the chance to cook with some of the finest names in food? Britannia is turning up the heat on cruise entertainment by offering a range of two hour cookery classes led by P&O’s Food Heroes. Sleek workstations, quality produce and expert guidance from the best in the business form the ingredients for your very own culinary masterpiece.

Shop Until You Drop

Shopping enthusiasts will appreciate the boutique shops located in the atrium. The range is incredible, with 660m² of retail space; that’s almost 20% more than both the Azura and Ventura.

Wi-Fi is available across the ship so you can stay connected and keep everyone at home up to date with your most recent adventures. Enjoy your own gadgetry or head to Britannia’s own state-of-the-art technology centre. If you prefer your words on paper, seek out a secluded spot in the library and get lost in your favourite book; Britannia has 4,000 titles to choose from.

Entertainment in Abundance

As the sun goes down the evenings bring a different blend of magic to Britannia, and the entertainment unfolds within stylish surroundings.

Headliners Theatre Group is all about dramatic first impressions and the LED backdrop adds a new dynamic to slick productions performed on a seriously grand scale. Step into the limelight at The Limelight Club where nightly shows are accompanied by delectable dining, reigniting the tradition of the supper club.

Brand new to the P&O Cruises is The Studio, a state-of-the-art entertainment venue that will play host to film showings, music recitals, lectures, guest speakers, cookery demonstrations and port talks. The Live Lounge also promises to be a popular venue, playing host to performances from singers, tribute acts, live bands and comedians. Once the show comes to a close the venue will transform into a lively nightclub.

Dancing traditionally features as a favourite pastime on many a cruise and Britannia’s glamorous Crystal Room is bound to be a popular destination on ship. The venue’s rich wood dance floors and glistening chandeliers provide the perfect surroundings in which to dance the night away. Expect the unexpected as you make your way around the ship; Britannia’s own dancers will be taking to the decks with spontaneous, high energy performances beneath the night sky. You never know when and where the next performance might take place!

There are thirteen bars on board Britannia, from Olly Smith’s renowned Glass House to the Crow’s Nest, a traditionally loved venue that has undergone a stunning makeover. Head to The Blue Bar for something a little more exotic; this stylish venue will find you cosseted in the ship’s very heart with a view of the stunning Starburst sculpture and an elegant cocktail in hand.

Fine Dining in Striking Surroundings

P&O Cruises has an appetite for exceptional dining and Britannia leads the way with beautiful food and equally beautiful surroundings. Take your seat at the Oriental restaurant, the dedicated Club Dining venue. Enjoy dinner at the same time and table each night, with fine food and service to match.

Freedom Dining at the Peninsular and Meridian restaurants offers the same incredible taste with the added opportunity to cast routine aside and enjoy an early dinner on night and a late supper the next; you shape your night to suit.

Emerging P&O Cruises restaurant Sindhu is once again represented on board, delivering fine dining Indian style.

The informal Horizon buffet restaurant may adopt a more relaxed dress code but it still packs a punch where taste and quality is concerned. Head to the live cooking stations where the chef will create a culinary masterpiece before your eyes.

Food Heroes

Britannia is the only ship in the fleet to see all the ‘Food Heroes’ represented on board. Award winning wine expert Olly Smith encourages you to raise a toast in the Glass House, where perfectly matched wines have been selected for each of the menu’s steak and seafood dishes.

Master Pâtissier, Eric Lanlard brings his much-celebrated expertise to the Market Café with his trademark French-style patisserie appearing alongside fine cheese, antipasto, charcuterie, tapas and speciality breads. The tradition of afternoon tea reigns supreme on board Britannia, with Eric Lanlard’s influences lacing each delicious mouthful.

Marco Pierre White also continues his fruitful partnership with P&O Cruises, creating several exceptional dishes which feature especially on the Gala menus of the main restaurants. Gala Evenings have never felt so special!
