From Aksla to Viking Ship Replicas

Walk the 418 steps up from the Town Park or take the City Train up to Fjellstua and visit the Town Mountain and viewpoint of Aksla. From here, you’ll be rewarded with panoramic views of the town with views across to the Sunnmøre Alps. If heights are not your thing, keep your feet firmly on lower ground and stroll through the inner sights of the town marvelling at its Art Nouveau style that could be the backdrop for a Nordic fairytale, grab the chance to see Viking ship replicas or a cultural exhibition in the town that is now for its cultural centre.

Atlantic Sea Park

Away from the architectural beauty of the town, Ålesund is also a great port of call to discover a varied range of incredible wildlife. Ålesund is the fisheries’ capital, so why not head for the Atlantic Sea Park. Renowned for being one of Northern Europe’s largest aquariums with a colourful and exciting range of fish and fauna this Norwegian aquarium is perfect for all ages. The largest aquarium tank is 36 metres long and 17 metres wide, containing 4 millions of litres of unfiltered sea water!
