No charge except for drinks, and we found it relatively quite compared to the main pool area, plenty of seating ....Davybe

There wasn’t a charge for the Serenity Pool/Bar area when I was onboard in April this year. Should you choose to visit the adjacent Retreat area this is chargeable, I believe on a daily or weekly basis.
    Hope this helps.

    Hi BanburyBlue,
I was on Britannia in April this year and the Serenity pool / sun beds etc., were available to
    use by adult passengers.
Much quieter area to relax in away from the main pool area.
    Enjoy - I certainly did 😎

TrentAnn reacted to Captain Kidd II in Is cruising suitable for all?
I would never deny disabled or less fortunate than me the pleasure of cruising. My whole point is that it would appear that Aurora is now geared up for a certain area of the travel market to such an extent that loyal travellers of a younger age (we are both retired) consider it is no longer suitable for there needs. I know it is our choice but from our most recent experience we are seriously looking at cancelling 2 cruises currently booked on the ship as are several if our friends.
We may be retired but do not wish to feel that we have effectively signed up for weeks on end in a care home.

Just to advise that the cases when closed would not quite fit under the beds but fitted fine when opened.  On another tack the cruise was really good, and the weather was exceptional.  First time we had been to Norway and Svalbard, most impressed.  Cannot find any links on Oriana's last cruise.  Is there any?

So what you are saying is that in the past when prices have been higher that people "dont like a good drink". There are people who get drunk in all walks of life and however much money they have so your statement is insulting that if people are at the lower end of price bracket on P&O that they "like a good drink" and therefore insinuating that they are the ones that cause trouble. Alcohol affects people of all walks of life in different ways some get aggresive some dont but it is nothing to do with how much money they have and for you to insinuate that is offensive. Some people might have to work very hard to be in a position to be able to afford a cruise that does not mean they are excessive drinkers or troublemakers.

Cruised Princess and P&O many times and have never been disappointed with food served on Princess whether it be quality or portion size. It is obvious P&O is aimed at British  market and serve mainly British food but that is what we like about Princess the variation of food served.

My suitcases are 29cm deep, I was able to store them closed under the bed recently on Britannia. Possibly leaving the cases open to reduce the depth would be an option if they’re a tight fit.

Having returned from my first cruise on Britannia at the weekend, I agree with sinbad10 a beautiful ship.
Balconies are small compared with other ships, my cabin was Port side on F deck midship and found the balcony adequate for one person - Personally I feel two adults and two Children would be very cramped.
Azura and Ventura have spacious extended balconies on C deck (my favourite deck) which are part shaded and part open, they will accommodate four people comfortably.
Hope you find your ideal cabin, and cruise.

Thanks Davyb for your thoughts on Azura, I'm due to sail on her for the first time next year to the Med.
Disembarkation from Britannia a the weekend was very efficient, we thought there may have been a problem on Azura as we had to wait 50 minutes on our coach for some of her passengers to join us.
Hope the same Azura turns up for us both next year.

There were issues on Britannia even from the early days that people  were going to the Grab n Go on port days and literally stripping it of all the sandwiches and wraps to take ashore which is not what it is intended for and dont blame P&O if they have stopped filling Grab n Go on port days if that is what they are doing.

Exactly it. Dress doesn`t make the man or woman. Me? I dress smart to go out for dinner whether at home or on a ship but I don`t see the need to dress in an out of date dj and bow tie. Insistence on that is no more than snobbery and to be told if you don`t want to dress like that eat in the buffet is insulting. I`ve never been stopped by cruise staff re: my dress even when deciding to dress down from a DJ to a smart jacket/ shirt and tie so will eat anywhere I want to. I`d never eat out in a proper restaurant in shorts/ t-shirt and a baseball cap and would expect those dressed as such to be stopped and asked to eat elsewhere. If the are not then the cruiseline should dispense with the dress code and give it up.

Not only on P&O sinbad10, I know of people who regularly cruise with Cunard and Princess who will not pay any extra for tea or coffee when it's available FOC in the buffet .... each to their own, I enjoy my speciality coffees and will continue to pay for them.

I agree with all three I've never felt compelled to pay extra.
I've looked at several so called "speciality restaurant" menus and nothing encourages me to spend extra, infact I wouldn't pay the equivalent of $35pp at home let alone on a ship in which I've already paid.
Very rarely had a bad meal in the MDR so I'll stick to that.
    HLM.

I thought it was interesting washing, drying, and ironing 1000 pieces of bedding in an hour, amazing I know shows my mentality I’m  interested in the hospitality side, I have no experence in that area.
i could not cope in a ship that size but can marvel in the operation side just my personal opinion

TrentAnn reacted to Oldworldtraveller in Which Ship?Has that Wow factor?
Keeping to the original question of "Which ship has the wow factor' for me this is a difficult question as many of the new ships I have been on have a 'Wow' factor. I think however the one that comes top in this category is the Quantum Class of RCI. The pod that takes you 300ft above the ocean affording spectacular views, Spectres Cabaret, one of the best shows of its type I have seen at sea, the London/Broadway Shows featuring the original cast rather than an onboard group that do everything, restaurants like Wonderland, switching restaurants with the same wait staff for those on classic dining and a buffet area so large and with such choice it puts most to shame. Bathrooms with large glass cubicles and inside cabins with screens giving views and sounds as if it were a  balcony. Not my favourite ship but certainly a ship with the 'Wow" factor.
