Personally I think our government could have acted sooner. For those in quarantine on the ship who had not contracted the virus I would have thought it common sense that the longer they are left there the more chance there is of becoming infected. Why not remove those not infected after the 14 days quarantine  away from the source!!

Jenjen got a reaction from afcandrew in Cunard
Having not been on Cunard Queen Victoria for three years, I was looking forward to this cruise, we went on P&O in June this year so feel with up to date memories It pains me say the prices on Cunard for drinks are quite frankly ridiculous two single measure spirits plus a mixer £26 bottle of wine £40 the shops were o erpriced. The ship is still magnificent all areas clean I don’t think the service is as good as it was
I feel very sad about this as a long standing devoted Cunard passenger
    Just my opinion, and experience

Hi OWT, But Solent Richard was banned for his continued stalking and harassment of members not only here but other forums, something he continues to do to this day not only on his own blog but across the few other forums he's still allowed to post.
This forum is certainly better without the likes of him, even if there are quieter periods.
    HLM.

As I understood the stamp enty and exit was the visa, that is what we were told, we did not have to pay

Our visit was about three years ago, time goes by so quickly it may have been four years!
we did do this as land base holiday I think it would be more difficult from a cruise, but that isonly my impression a word of warning, so much begging, from some not very nice people, aggressive, if you ignore them they spit at you, that was our experence anyway

We went to Jordan from Taba in Egypt, we had Togo to the border, and get a visa, which was free, did The Pink city, in Petra, on return to go back into Taba, our visa was cancelled.

Jenjen reacted to Captain Kidd II in Is cruising suitable for all?
I know this is going to cause comment but .....” having just disembarked from P&O Aurora the thing that particularly struck home to me was not only the average age of the passengers but their inability to move round the ship, manage to do things themselves and complete disrespect for fellow passengers.
The Crow’s Nest in the morning was akin to the nursing/care home my mother was in prior to her death with many catching up on sleep, mouths open, whilst others painted etc. A friend of mine suggested the ship should be renamed Age Concern!
Entertainment was most suitable for the more elderly and, as many were though of as in need of early beds, the turn down in the cabins had been stopped as so many were tucked up before the cabin steward could do their rounds.
It appears that the focus is now firmly on the family friendly, larger, ships for entertainment rather then Adult only as the “young passengers” prefer these. With the way P&O are managing these smaller ships it will be a self fulfilling prophecy that they will either replace Saga as first choice for the infirmed or just  be sold off.
Rant over but I really am asking myself if I want to go on 2 further cruises on that ship which was so close to our hearts.

Because P&O have gone up so much for next year we have been looking at Azamara, they come out good value because it includes every thing, glad we booked Dubai last year for next March, perhaps the fly cruises are better value but we like sailing from Southampton and back however not at the cost of another cruise.
    Just my opinion as usual

I think most ships have lifts which don’t go every deck, some decks you are not able to walk along because of kitchens, restaurants, sun decks swimming pools, you get to know these as the cruise goes along, as I understand they have lots of complaints about the lifts on Britana. So was surprised to hear your complaint about Venturas lifts, as for late night buffet, have breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea, and dinner, not many people would want yet more food surely?

Thank God never experienced anything like that, rough seas yes, out ran a hurricane so four ports cancelled but nothing like a major problem I would not like to air lifted, put it another way, would not be air lifted.
My heart goes out to the passengers and crew on board.

I think I read your original post incorrectly as I thought you were looking for someone to share so I apologise for that otherwise I would have replied earlier.
We have been cruising over Christmas/New Year for the last 30 years it has become a way of life for us and is definitely our favourite time of year to cruise.
I am assuming as a single lady you probably prefer the convenience of sailing out of Southampton, as well as P&O Cunard also have two ships sailing from there this year .. QV going to the Canaries or QM2 going to New York/Caribbean, if you enjoy dancing then I would recommend Cunard as they have 'gentleman hosts' so you don't need a partner 😉 and even if you don't it's a good opportunity to learn, unlike my screen name might suggest I am not a dancer but I do love to sit and watch, I could give you a hundred reasons why Cunard might be for you but don't take my word for it give them a try I don't think you would be disappointed !!
I'm a bit of a Cunard fanatic so they would always be my first choice but I believe there are other cruise lines who sail from the UK so it might be worth looking at Fred Olsen or CMV, we haven't sailed with either but both seem to get very good reviews,  the only downside seems to be their ships are quite old but then sometimes 'old' can equate to 'charm'
I would say go for it if there is nothing to keep you at home and you will get a bit of sunshine into the bargain.

I find more slap stick or life observing more humorous Victoria Wood, Les Dawson style both sadly gone.

Funny the things you find you need, have difficulty finding and buying to solve a problem, then never travel without it
But then never need it again, my holiday bag is full of such stuff, now out of date, or dry as bone, however seem to need the glasses repair kit, my sun glasses, or reading glasses I have one arm falling off or a screw missing so my pound shop kit gets used most holidays.

i could not cope in a ship that size but can marvel in the operation side just my personal opinion
