3Rd & 4Th Berths On Holland America

2 posts in this topic

We (2 adults & 2 children) sailed with Holland America last October and had a great cruise.  We all particularly enjoyed being on a smaller ship.

We had an outside cabin for four, which included a single sofa bed and an upper bed over the double bed.  When we boarded the sofa was made up as a sofa and the drop-down bed was hidden away.  The room was turned down when we went to dinner on the first evening.

I was expecting the beds to be put away when the room was prepared the next morning, but this did not happen.  As this impacted on the cabin, after a couple of days I spoke to our steward and the sofabed was put away and the upper bunk was raised somewhat.

I wonder whether this is the usual arrangements with HAL?  We have only cruised once before with our children (RCI), and on that occasion they shared a double sofabed that was put away during the day.

I realise that there are probably few people who have sailed with HAL that have utilised the extra berths but wondered if anybody had any experience of this.
