Ajaccio - You Can't Escape Napoleon

3 posts in this topic

Earlier this year while cruising the Western Mediterranean on Ventura...

we made a full day call to the Corsican port of Ajaccio...

The one thing the visitor to Ajaccio can't escape is the recognition of Napoleon Bonaparte. Statues of him are everywhere....

The reason, of course, is because the diminutive Frenchman was born in Ajaccio.

Eventually I took the view that if you can't beat em, join em...

In all seriousness though, Ajaccio is a great port visit. Very easy to navigate, lots to see and some excellent restaurants. For height of summer calls there are some excellent beaches.

Hi Richard, I also visited Corsica earlier on this year whislt on Ventura and was really pleasantly suprised. We were there on a market day so it was quite nice having a wander around the local market, we also went on the land train which took us to the Napolean monument, it was a very nice day.
