Bad Publicity

Recommended Posts

The other thing that cruisers should ensure that they have is the relevant insurance to cover you for cruises….ie being airlifted off the ship etc. Not all insurances covers this and it isn't a hard question to ask.

The main and most important point is to ensure you have good quality travel insurance. The doctors on board any ship will do the very best they can and with the facilities they have but there are times when a passenger will need more specialised facilities. It happens the same with hospitals in the UK and the need for transfers.

I, probably like many, have been on board when a passenger has died but, unfortunately, these things happen. You cannot place any blame on the cruise company. People will bring all sorts of illnesses onboard or will travel when they are not well which can put everyone at risk. Going shopping gives you the same risk.

I will continue to travel with P&O and, for Solent Richards benefit, continue to receive my shareholder discount.

Wonder why Dickie  had to mention it anyway, its not unique to have at least 100 carnival shares.. You can also get Military benefit which I know he gets. wink.png

Well said 'The Pesky Pirate', the last time I cruised my agent asked if my insurance covered me for cruising as they were aware that some of the lower cost policies dont and it ends up as an additional extra, but as usual with insurance companies its always hidden in the smallprint.

Good afternoon Captain.

Do you mean the OBC allocation to Carnival Shareholders?

How astute of you John.

Double whacks in fact. I have a wife, remember?

Unlike the Carnival Shares which are 'per cabin'

Dickie,

How very common,  showing your Discount Card.  Thank Goodness most  P&O passengers are not the same,  as bad as bring up the subject of "How much did you pay" when on a cruise !

Those that have it, Don't Boast and certainly would never show it.biggrin.png

Blimey if I was Richard I'd spend less time on the internet and more time cruising.

That card clearly says Richard expires 31-10-2019

All the cruise forums on the www  may be breathing a sigh of relief in 2019 then ! biggrin.png

It's always an enormous tribute to be followed across the internet by John. Even more so when he snaps up the bait so regularly.

Can anyone imagine how few posts John would make if Solent Richard wasn't here to be goaded?

Still, not half as common (see my next comment) as continually joining roll calls and then either not turning up or lurking in the background without making himself known. angry.png angry.png

Good morning John.

Not just P&O passengers. The Defence Discount Service card applies to Cunard as well. Didn't you know?

Obviously John is very out of touch with social media. The Facebook site, 'Cruise People'...

https://www.facebook.com/groups/thespartanline/

...promote the scheme to their membership (this morning currently at 5042) ...

18697944780_443744eb7b_z.jpg

...where I'd picked it up. I'd previously only been applying for the Cunard Veteran's Scheme for my Wife's and my additional OBC.

Not so common eh?

In it to win it.  biggrin.png biggrin.png

And so back to topic.

Considering how the thread moved onto the Defence Services Discount Service, and the way two particular cruise lines openly promote it, perhaps P&O and Cunard deserve a pat on the back.

Good publicity never hurt anyone.

Is it not bad ETIQUETTE to promote another cruise site on here even if it is a FB site and also provide a link - just saying !

I don't notice anything about the Defence Discount Card on the screen shot so was there a purpose to it other than to promote another site.

Ever heard of something called "oneupmanship"?

Leave them to it..they're harmless.

On the matter of the Defence Discount Card it is not just P&O and Cunard but also Princess who give OBC. Royal Caribbean and Celebrity give discounts as opposed to OBC.

It would appear that if you were in the armed services and then went to local government or police and used on retirement some of your savings for cruise line shares you can get great discounts and even better OBC. ;)

You are so right Pyewacket....he does exactly that...

He calls himself The Mafia..baiting and stalking people on cruise forums who HE deems unworthy.

Its all there on his blog...under Cruise Forums revealed.

Its not very nice at all !!!!

Thanks for that OWT.

Kind of makes it even more beneficial and obviously not just for any old Frankie & Benny's.  laugh.png laugh.png

Surely scraping the barrel there Pyewacket.

Facebook is 'social media' and the site in question, as you are well aware,  has no links whatsoever to any travel agent. It is undoubtedly the most popular non-commercial cruising group in the UK and has many members who are also members of this Forum.

I have noted on many occasions that Bolsover Cruise Club get many first class  reviews, plugs  and mentions. I appreciate that you would not be aware of that - the Admin of the site do an excellent job.

As do the Admin of this site of course.

Oh dear Richard. You have a marvellous cruising experience and write wonderful informative evocative reviews. What a shame it is then that you cannot stop scoring points to which others respond, myself included but I've realised that there are more important things in life than carrying round a bellyful of vitriol. You do yourself no favours and these public snipes have introduced an unnecessary unpleasantness to the forum. In any case these contentious 'ships' have long since sailed. Isn't it time to move on?

I don’t scrape barrels I leave that to them it comes naturally to.

Neither do I know what I am supposed to be well aware of, I do belong to a P&O facebook group which I joined before I was invited to join this forum but I find it very tedious with a lot of inaccurate information or just drivel and the bullying is rife so not for me really and also totally irrelevant to this thread.

It certainly tells you something tho when a pinned post remains in situ for several days having to tell members about their behaviour, just about sums up facebook in my opinion and the muppets that run such groups.

This type of forum is so much more professional with professional people running it.

Dickie if you are going to continually post false rumours on this forum about me and on your vindictive blog then please tell the truth, also stop attempting to bully me with trying to make me reveal my identity. We all have Pseudo names on here for that reason ! Not everyone needs a claim to fame.

I  never continually joined roll calls! As you know full well.

I joined ONE roll call which had nothing to do with you, you were not even on that ship! Yes I did not join the group, as at the time I did not wish to get involved with that group of persons. Also I remember in the early days that I said I may join you for a drink in the Golden Lion, well after boarding again I decided thank goodness, that I did not wish to do so.

Ever since then you have continued to bully me  with childish remarks both here and on your own blog.

I am not alone in your antics. You only have to look up your blog and see that you call yourself "The Mafia" and that you go out on "shark patrol". Do posters realise that they get mentioned "elsewhere" by you when they post on cruise forums ! You even got banned from another world wide cruise forum because of it !

I could not agree more than what Fudge has said.

Yes it is sad Ron, and if you go back through the posts you will see where it starts to go off piste. Like I said, opportunities are always taken to post a snipe or bait about past events creating unpleasantness fir the forum. It is very hard not to respond but I wish it would stop. I for one think it's time to let things go and move on and I wish others would do the same.
