I went to Manaus in 2006 on a P & O ship Artemis. This was a 38 night cruise from Southampton and back. We loved the cruise but not the ship and glad to see the ship leave the group.

Good afternoon James.

I did the full Amazon cruise in December 2003 on Fred Olsen's Braemar.

I tell a good story about the cruise because my wife let me go alone - she had a number of singing engagements that precluded her joining me.

I even managed to book a flight over the Amazon from Manaus...

I loved that cruise and think it should be high on everyone's list.

I was exceedingly lucky with it, we even got onto Devils Island...

God, was that nearly ten years ago?

Hi James,

We travel on the Adonia in December to Manaus with an overnight stay.

Perhaps you might provide some guidance on tours. We thought perhaps a river tour on the first day and grab a taxi for a city tour on the second. You mention a flight. Was this easily arranged and was it worth the money. Many thanks.

Good morning Geoff.

The flight was originally a ship's excursion.

However, the minimum bookings were not forthcoming so I made a few enquiries, with the help of the tour desk, and booked myself.

If you get the chance to go its great.

To be able to see the Amazon confluence from the air is just amazing...

All the tours i did were great including the night cayman expedition...

...and the Piranha fishing trip...

By the way, you get to eat the Piranha you catch.

Make the most of everything, it is an amazing journey.

That is on our bucket list as Liz's grandfather left there for New York

Rob, it really is a must do.

And to think that at the time the real reason for booking it was that 'Devils Island' was on the ship's itinerary.
