Atlantic crossing

Recommended Posts

The Atlantic Ocean is huge and there is huge difference in the crossing experiences of North and South. If it is the South Atlantic, heading to and from the Caribbean the chances are that it will be smooth and sunshine. Crossing the North it can be very rough and not the place to be on some cruise ships. As a well known cruise journalist said, "Crossing the North Atlantic in winter on a modern cruise ship can be a memorable experience but for the wrong reason". If you are crossing the North in QM2 I wouldn't worry, that is what she was built for. Hope this helps.

We did the Caribbean round trip on Ventura this January, the seas were a bit rough up to Madeira but Ventura rode them well, although she does creak and groan quite a bit.  After Madeira the seas gradually eased and the weather improved quite quickly, similar conditions on the way back with the Azores as the switch-over point.
