Which Of The Ship's Facilities Haven't You Used

Recommended Posts

Hi  Modern cruise ships have more facilties than you could only dream of twenty years ago.  I am a self-confessed "traditional cruiser" who prefers small ship ambience and relaxation.  I have therefore avoided ships with water slides, climbing walls, ice rinks etc.  However, there are a few facilities I have not used even on small ships namely the Casino and fortunately the Medical centre.  What facilities don't you use while cruising?

Casino, Gym, Spa and deck games are facilities I've not used and have no intention of using. :)

A nice book (Kindle these days) and glass of something either in a nice lounge or on the promenade deck is my favourite pastime during daylight hours. (I just love sea days.)

cheers

Harvey

My heart has palpitations when I go anywhere near the gym, and why do they have to put it next to the spa, that's a nice calm environment.

I have used the medics though (several times) yuk.

Surely if you don't over eat you don't need the gym . I get my exercise on ship going from one end of the ship to the other trying to fit in

all the talks and things that I' am interested in. I don't visit the spa or beauty area as they don't give a price for miracles,

Prefer to walk the open promenade decks for exercise in the fresh air ,rather than use a gym ! So that's a no go area for me .They can have as much hi tech gym equipment as they like on board but I 'll never use it. Water slides ,hot tubs ,etc etc no thank you , not for me !

The $10 "Jumble Sales". What a load of junk they sell!

HI  I once remarked on a Celebrity Eclipse review that no cruise line which likes to suggest that it is an upmarket product should ever have these tacky sales.  I got plenty of replies telling me they were excellent value for money,  I'm glad I am not alone in thinking that they were selling "junk".

I totally agree. The stuff sold in the corridors from camping tables is invariably 'tat'. Mind you - that's only my view and I have been known to be wrong. ;)

I don't use the swimming pools either or the laundry…. can you imagine if someone who has had nv is doing their washing what you might pick up from the machines and if they are not very particular about personal hygiene (especially if they don't gel their hands or wash after going to the loo) what you might pick up in the pools….. Yuk

TPP

I just let the world pass me by whilst at sea that is what I like about sea days, when in port like everybody else I wander round where ever we are docked to see the local culture. ;) Ron

I've never used the gym, I prefer to walk around the ship or ashore for exercise. I've never used the swimming pools or hot tubs for exactly the same reason an earlier poster mentioned... Not sure what's been in there. I am guilty though of a good rummage on those £10 tacky stalls hoping I'll manage to snare a bargain. Funnily enough all I've got to show for my endeavours is a watch that doesn't keep time and a necklace with a dodgy clasp. I should know better but it's half the fun looking. Just remembered I've never played bingo, always mean to but have never got around to buying the cards. I like to sit with my Kindle and a nice glass of wine and read, people watch and chat with whoever happens by.
