Don't Write Off Salalah

1 post in this topic

I have yet to see a cruise  review that gave a port visit to Salalah anything but the thumbs down. So it was with some trepidation that my wife and I decided to take on the challenge when we visited Salalah on board Oceania’s Nautica.

The port certainly appears to be getting ever more popular with cruise ships - maybe something to do with the cheap cost of fuel there - but whatever, there certainly is enough to see and certainly there were some good looking ship's excursions on offer.

Within minutes of arrival we drove through a sandstorm...

That soon blew over and we felt all the better for the experience.

Salalah is easily done on a DIY basis and there are interesting things to see.

But in essence Salalah is all about the Frankincense Trail...

...for which there exists a very good museum, again easily reached by taxi.

A full review of my visit along with an insight into one or two of the pitfalls can be found at...
