Holland America Line’s ms Koningsdam is set to undergo the final phase of its construction after being floated out of its dock at the Fincantieri shipyard in Italy. The ship has been moved to the outfitting dock, where contractors will begin constructing its inside spaces to the standard expected of the luxury cruise line.
Speaking about the developments Orlando Ashford, president of Holland America Line said: “A ship’s construction has many key milestones, and floating it out and moving it to the outfitting dock is especially symbolic. The float out represents that we are getting closer to welcoming Koningsdam to our fleet and seeing the ship in the water adds to the excitement among our loyal guests, travel agent partners and employees in anticipation of its arrival”.
The floating out of ms Koningsdam comes shortly after a traditional coin ceremony was held for the ship on February 26th 2015.
The 99,500 gross ton ms Koningsdam will be delivered to Holland America Line on March 31st 2016 and will become the new flagship of the fleet.
