The christening of MSC Cruises’ newest cruise ship, MSC Seaview has been delayed and the cruise line will take delivery of MSC Seaview on June 4, pushing back the christening and resulting in the ship’s June 7-10 preview sailing to be cancelled.
The christening ceremony will now take place June 9 in Genoa, Italy, instead of Rome as originally planned. MSC Seaview will then spend its time sailing Western Mediterranean cruises from Genoa, Marseille and Barcelona.
“This additional time is necessary to fully ready MSC Seaview and — most importantly — to ensure she is fit to provide the holiday experience guests have come to expect from MSC Cruises,” MSC said in a statement.
The 5,179-passenger MSC Seaview will feature a large ratio of outdoor to indoor space, panoramic elevators with sea views, suspended glass floors, a giant aqua park with five waterslides, a ropes course, dual ziplines and an outdoor promenade with shops, bars and alfresco dining.
