The 2013 Cruise Critic Cruiser’s Choice Awards for the United States and the United Kingdom took place on February 27th and we bring you details of the major winner on the night.  Oceania Cruises quite literally sailed away with the awards, winning an incredible dozen categories to mark a special evening for the superb cruise line. Further Royal Princess features revealed

Princess Cruises have revealed further details of what passengers can expect to discover on board the brand new Royal Princess.  The illustrious cruise line announced the details in a media segment of the Miami cruise convention entitling it “20 things you don’t know about Royal Princess”.  Along with many brand new features, the ship will boast a flair bartending show, a tea sommelier and some of the most extravagant spa packages at sea. Independence of the Seas set for refurb

Royal Caribbean have announced the Independence of the Seas will undergo an extensive refurbishment in April 2013.  The ship has been based in Southampton since 2008 and will continue to operate from the UK upon the completion of her renovations.  She will return to the UK in style for May 2013 following her $7 million worth of upgrades.  Cruises for 2013 include 14 night Mediterranean voyages along with the chance to take in the sights of the Norwegian Fjords and Northern Europe. There will also be shorter cruise options to Le Havre and Bruges for those passengers looking for a cruise break. River Cruising figures soar in 2012

More Britons than ever before decided to choose a river cruise last year with an increase of 14 percent taking passenger numbers for the year up to a highly impressive 130,000. Record cruising figures for 2012

Figures have been released by the Passenger Shipping Association showing a record year for the British cruise industry in 2012.  UK ports also reported a recording breaking year across the board.  It was certainly an impressive year for the trade with passenger embarkations increasing by 10% year on year and reaching a total figure of 962,000.  This total figure showed an increase of 78,000 extra UK passengers from the previous year and 6,000 overseas.  Such statistics show significant progress and mean that the cruising industry is well in reach of hitting the one million passenger mark in the 2013.  Passenger Shipping Association director, William Gibbons commented that: “The past year was an impressive one for the UK cruise industry, especially in view of the combination of challenges the year presented. Further details announced for Titanic II

Further news has been released regarding the experience passengers can expect aboard the brand new Titanic II.  Guests will be invited to take in a true 1912 cruising experience with no access to modern day activities such as Wi-Fi or social networking.  These opportunities will be replaced by features such as a full set of 1912 clothing styles waiting for the passengers in their staterooms.  It is now believed that there will even be multi-class tickets sold to passengers meaning guests will have the choice of life in first, second or third class.  The initial voyage will of course be a six day sailing from Southampton to New York, something Australian businessman Clive Palmer, the man behind the project, is very excited about: “”Why did people build the Titanic in the first place?” he asked. “Because they could and they...

Titanic II continues to take place

In Manhattan on Tuesday of this week a man by the name of Professor Clive Palmer along with many representatives of the Finnish consultant Deltamarin confirmed that the Titanic II project continues to take shape and the next stage will be the official signing of a construction contract.  The official signing will take place with a Chinese shipyard construction firm and will be completed next week marking a huge step in the process of this iconic recreation.  Professor Clive Palmer confirmed that both he and Blue Star Line do already have in place a memorandum of understanding between themselves and the company CSC shipyard to complete the construction of the 2,435 passenger cruise liner.  It is Blue Star Line that will operate the vessel on its completion and the new design will present a modern version of the original Titanic. ...

Oceania Announce 2014 Summer Collection
