We’re on board the world famous Queen Mary 2 returns to service today following the completion of her mammoth refurbishment. The total investment amounted to an approximate £90 million, equating to one of the most substantial and significant refits Cunard Line has ever commissioned. If you have ever wondered what it takes to re-design an icon of the industry, the answer is phenomenal. Cunard’s Queen Mary 2 has received over one million man hours on her refurbishment, 55,200 square feet of lavish new carpets, and more than 15,000 litres of paint. The full face-lift took a total of 25 days during which she was worked on by leading designers and stylists from all over the world.
The world’s most famous ocean liner sailed into Southampton in the early hours of this morning flanked by her fellow fleet royalty, Queen Elizabeth and Queen Victoria. She will remain in Southampton for the majority of the day before setting sail for New York later this afternoon. Re-assuming her position as the world’s leading transatlantic liner she will resume her iconic cuisine schedule, specialising in this distinctive journey that many famous personalities have adored over the years including Audrey Hepburn, Clark Gable and Winston Churchill.
Public spaces have been given particular attention on board along, specifically the restaurants but guests will find many makeovers and new additions throughout the ship. Queen Mary 2 is well-known for her dog-care service, allowing passengers to bring canine companies on board with them for their own luxury transatlantic experience. The dog-care service has received its own revamp, now boasting 10 new kennels, a lamp post from Liverpool, and even a fire hydrant from New York.
