Royal Caribbean’s new Perfect Day Island Collection will launch with a revamp of the line’s existing CocoCay, Bahamas.
The cruise line’s president and chief executive, Michael Bayley revealed plans to invest $200 million in redeveloping the island to create the “perfect day” ashore for guests at an event in New York’s Seaport District yesterday.
“We are introducing Perfect Day Island Collection to ensure that we deliver the most memorable holiday for adventure seekers on land, as well as onboard our ships,” he said.
The Perfect Day Island Collection is due to be completed in November 2019 with features beginning to be rolled out from this summer. CocoCay will offer guests the chance to experience “thrills and chills” such as the tallest waterslide in North America and the CocoBeach Club with the Bahamas first overwater cabanas, he said.
“At Royal Caribbean, it’s not just about the hardware. It’s true that our new ships are technological and engineering marvels in their own right, and offer a multitude of unexpected experiences. Our destinations are an equally important part of the cruise vacation,” said Michael Bayley, President and CEO, Royal Caribbean International. “We are introducing Perfect Day Island Collection to ensure that we deliver the most memorable vacation for adventure seekers on land, as well as on board our ships.”
Other features to be introduced include:
» Captain Jack’s, a hangout and meet-up spot, where guests can grab a drink at the rowboat bar and enjoy waterfront views or chow down on chicken wings and crispy steak fries
» A Thrill Waterpark which will lie at the heart of Perfect Day at CocoCay, with two brag-worthy water towers with 13 slides – the most slides found in any waterpark in the Caribbean – as well as the Caribbean’s largest wave pool and a kid-friendly obstacle course pool.
» 1,600-foot zip line – ending with the only splash water landing in the region.
» Adventure Pool, perfect for little adventurers with an obstacle course with lily pads, a rock-climbing wall and swing ropes.
» Oasis Lagoon, where guests of all ages can explore the coves of the Caribbean’s largest freshwater pool.
» Royal Caribbean passengers will also be able to use two beaches, called Chill Island and South Beach.
