See The Finishing Touches Being Made To Saga’s First New-Build Ship Spirit Of Discovery

Saga guests have an exclusive opportunity to visit the Meyer Werft Shipyard to see the finishing touches being made to Saga’s first new-build ship Spirit of Discovery which launches in July 2019.

Wilhemshaven, in Lower Saxony, Germany, is featured in Saga Sapphire’s new Maritime Cities of the Continent cruise from Dover on 2 February 2019 and it’s from here where guests will get the chance to see Spirit of Discovery.

On board the 700-passenger Saga Sapphire, a maritime historian and shipbuilding expert will give lectures to enhance the cruise. During this cruise Saga Sapphire will also sail along the River Elbe to moor Hamburg, which blends its heritage as a free Hanseatic city with a host of modern attractions and legendary nightlife. There will be a call to Ijmuiden with a guided walk through the cobbled streets of Edam as well as an included tour of Amsterdam or a visit to the Zaanse Schans open-air museum.

During a mooring in Zeebrugge, guests can head to Bruges or continue the maritime theme with an optional tour of Antwerp’s Red Star Line Museum.
