Sounds of the 60s Cruise with Saga Cruises
Dance and sing along to the sounds of the 60s when top bands Gerry and the Pacemakers, The Merseybeats and The Fortunes join 700-passenger Saga Sapphire as she sails into a trio of stylish Scandinavian cities in May 2018.
These Liverpool bands created an exciting Mersey sound with Gerry and the Pacemakers enjoying three number No 1 hits in 1963; How Do You Do It, I like It and the anthem You’ll Never Walk Alone. Gerry went on to write Ferry Across The Mersey and Don’t Let The Sun Catch You Crying while working on the same circuit as The Beatles.
The Merseybeats and The Fortunes are also on board, each playing two concerts. The Merseybeats performed regularly at the Cavern Club in Liverpool and their hits include I Think Of You, Wishin’ and Hopin’ and Lovely Loretta. The Fortunes formed as a close harmony band and their hit single Caroline was adopted as the theme tune of the pirate music station Radio Caroline while other hits included Here It Comes Again and You’ve Got Your Troubles.
As well as a musical trip down memory lane, you’ll visit the chic Copenhagen, Oslo and Aarhus, with overnight stops at Copenhagen and Oslo offering the chance to explore and experience the local nightlife too.
