Purpose built for the Mississippi
Debuting in 2022, Viking River Cruises’ first ever custom-built vessel will serve up a slice of Southern hospitality on voyages between New Orleans and St Paul. Spanning an incredible seven US states, its itineraries will visit 13 destinations in Louisiana, Mississippi, Tennessee, Missouri, Iowa, Wisconsin and Minnesota.
State-of-the-art Scandinavian design
Like other ships in the Viking Ocean and River fleets, Viking Mississippi will take sleek Scandinavian style and pair it with elements designed to reflect the Cajun gems that line the banks of the mighty America river. The state-of-the-art ship will be built south style born and bred, built in the southern state of Louisiana, and the most environmentally-friendly passenger ship on the Mississippi River today.
The Mississippi on show
Viking Mississippi river cruises will sample the music of the region, shed light on its art and architecture, and unfurl its history, whether you kayak a Louisiana bayou or visit a working farm in Quad Cities.
Cutting edge design, historic surroundings
Viking Mississippi will host 386 guests in 193 all-outside staterooms, its five decks featuring a combination of spacious outside staterooms with balcony and some of the largest true suites on the river. With king-size beds, heated bathroom floors and a well-stocked mini bar, they’ll be the perfect place for some post-exploring R&R.
Sun-filled spaces and American influences
Viking ocean guests will recognise some of Viking Mississippi’s Scandi spaces. The two-storey Explorers’ Lounge features floor-to-ceiling windows opening out onto The Bow, an outdoor seating area primed to take in those ever-changing riverside views.
The indoor/outdoor River Café takes al fresco dining to the top deck, where dishes range from American classics to Norwegian specialities. Elsewhere, the Aquavit Terrace that proves so popular on many of Viking’s ocean and river cruise vessels, reappears on the Mississippi, where it delivers a suitably authentic American barbecue experience. Finally, The Restaurant promises an ever-changing menu of regional cuisine and classics combined.
It’s all included with Viking
Every Viking Mississippi River cruise fare includes everything you could need to make your holiday amazing, with a complimentary shore excursion in each port, all onboard meals, beer and wine with lunch and dinner, 24-hour room service and free Wi-Fi for sharing your American Adventure. With speciality dining venues at no extra cost too, Viking Mississippi promises to be the best way to see the region when it launches in 2022.
