Vaccinations

Do I require vaccinations for my cruise?

Understanding what vaccinations are needed for your holiday can be confusing but it is important to allow sufficient time to receive the necessary immunisations before you sail.

Bolsover Cruise Club’s expertly trained Sales Consultants are able to provide details of any vaccinations that may be required for travel to particular destinations on your cruise itinerary. At the time of booking, your Sales Consultant will offer advice on necessary immunisations depending on your destination and all information will be confirmed within your holiday information pack.

In addition to advice from Bolsover Cruise Club, we would also recommend that you consult your GP, taking a copy of your cruise itinerary with you. It is also possibly to obtain a detailed report on health requirements for the journey you are to undertake by calling the Medical Advisory Service on 0906 822 4100 (calls currently cost 60p per minute). Alternatively, the latest Department of Health guidelines, including a country by country disease and immunisation checklist, is published on their website www.doh.gov.uk and can be found by entering ‘Travel Advice’ in the search field. Additionally, a booklet version of this information titled ‘Health Advice for Travellers’ is also available from Bolsover Cruise Club on request.

Help and assistance in establishing what immunisations are required for your cruise holiday is available from Bolsover Cruise Club’s dedicated administration team, who are able to provide all details of necessary vaccinations and travel health considerations.

Some cruise lines may excuse passengers from receiving vaccinations in certain circumstances, though a signed letter from your GP would be required in all situations. Please speak to our administration team if you believe this applies to you.

Where can I find vaccination information?

Alongside the Department of Health suggested recommendations in this FAQ section, you can also find up-to-date travel health advice for vaccinations and many other topics on the National Travel Health Network Centre’s UK government funded website at www.nathnac.org. Alternatively, please feel free to speak to our Administration Team who will be happy to answer any travel health related questions you may have.

Where am I at risk of Malaria?

There are several destinations which carry the risk of Malaria and it is important that you take the necessary preventative steps when visiting these areas as part of your cruise holiday. Once you have been advised that a destination presents a risk of Malaria, please contact your own medical practitioner who will advise you on the appropriate steps to take. Though our Administration Department are able to answer any questions you may have, it is imperative that you speak to your GP for full information. It is recommended that you take your full holiday itinerary with you when seeing your practitioner so that they are fully aware of all destinations you will visit throughout the trip and can advise accordingly on each. Malaria prevention medication including propylaxis may be advised.

Destinations with a current Malaria risk include:

  • Isla Margarita
  • Georgetown
  • Roatan
  • Trujillo
  • Puerto Limon
  • Colon
  • Puerto Ordaz
  • Angel Falls, Venezuela
  • Cartagena (Colombia)
  • Macapa
  • Santarem
  • Parintins
  • Manaus and Belem
  • Bitung
  • Sanya
  • Sihanoukville
  • Catalina Island

Other destinations not on this list may carry a risk of Malaria and it is important to seek advice from your GP before travelling.
