Next Seabourn Expedition Ship to be Named Seabourn Pursuit

Luxury cruise line Seabourn has revealed its second purpose-built polar expedition ship will be named Seabourn Pursuit.

The 264-passenger ship will join the Seabourn fleet in February 2023, sailing its inaugural voyage in Iceland and Greenland on 4 April 2023. The ship will continue to explore Greenland, Iceland and Norway throughout the summer, before a transit of the Northwest Passage highlight sailing later in August. Itineraries for Seabourn Pursuit’s maiden season are expected to go on sale in December 2021.

Seabourn Pursuit will become the sister ship to the Adam Tihany-designed Seabourn Venture. The ship had been slated to launch last year, however the global pandemic has seen its debut delayed to March 2022.

Like Seabourn Venture, the newly-announced Seabourn Pursuit will focus on ‘Ventures by Seabourn’ experiences, with a 26-person expedition team delivering complimentary tours aboard 24 inflatable Zodiacs and on the ship’s fleet of kayaks. The ship will also be equipped with a six-person submarine for underwater exploration.

“The name Seabourn Pursuit is truly fitting for a ship envisioned and designed to take expedition travelers into those places where they can see vast landscapes, diverse wildlife and remote regions of the world that may have been on their bucket list for years,” said Josh Leibowitz, president of Seabourn. “Seabourn Pursuit will navigate the most unexplored parts of the world in the highest level of comfort, safety and environmental protection available for the luxury traveler.”
