As the countdown continues to the naming ceremony of the brand-new P&O Cruises ship Arvia, details of the star-studded event have begun to emerge. Scheduled to be held in Barbados on 16 March, it will feature a performance by chart-topping singer Olly Murs. There will also be appearances from DJs Sara Cox and Trevor Nelson, who will also travel on the 11 March departure. Throughout the cruise, they will be hosting late-night DJ sets on board.
President of P&O Cruises Paul Ludlow commented: “For our guests watching Arvia’s naming ceremony from home and from Barbados this is a real treat. Olly, Sara and Trevor really do make a star-studded lineup which showcases the contemporary entertainment for which P&O Cruises is known.
“It is not often that in the depths of UK winter you can be transported to a spectacular white sand, palm-fringed beach in the Caribbean and watch a live performance from one of Britain’s best-loved stars. It really will be a moment to remember.”
Olly Murs will perform on Heywood’s Beach, as Sara Cox warms up the crowds shoreside. Trevor Nelson will take centre stage in Arvia’s SkyDome, and will be tasked with introducing the traditional bottle smash with Arvia’s yet-to-be-named Godmother. Her identity still remains closely under wraps, but P&O Cruises has revealed that she is a “global superstar”, who will also be given the title of the cruise line’s new entertainment partner.
