AmaWaterways has officially launched the AmaMagdalena, a pioneering luxury river cruise ship based on Colombia’s Magdalena River.
Designed to accommodate 60 passengers, the AmaMagdalena was meticulously crafted in partnership with local Colombian artisans and woodworking experts. The staterooms vary in size from 237 to 516 square feet, and the ship’s facilities include a Sun Deck pool, and a well-equipped fitness room. There is also a Main Restaurant serving a blend of Latin American specialties and Western classics, and a cosy outdoor dining space for special meals.
Guests can choose between two seven-night journeys, the Magic of Colombia and the Wonders of Colombia, navigating between Cartagena and Barranquilla. These trips offer unique cultural experiences like a private Barranquilla Carnival celebration, a heritage tour with a jazz concert in the UNESCO-listed town of Mompox, birdwatching tours featuring rare local species, and a musical journey to Palenque, the first free town in the Americas. Additionally, optional land packages before or after the cruise offer extended exploration in Medellín, Cartagena, and Panama City.
AmaWaterways is set to launch the AmaMelodia, the company’s second ship on the Magdalena River, later this year.
