Cocktail Corner: Viking’s Sicilian Negroni

Even if the only island you’re visiting this weekend is the kitchen island, you can still sail into the Mediterranean sunset with Viking’s Sicilain Negroni recipe. A twist on the classic cocktail, founded in delightfully indulgent Florence in the 1920s, this version uses blood orange for maximum impact.

INGREDIENTS

  • ¾ oz (22 ml) high quality citrusy gin, like Tanqueray Malacca
  • ¾ oz (22 ml) Campari
  • ¾ oz (22 ml) sweet vermouth, like Martini Rosso
  • 1½ oz (44 ml) blood orange juice
  • Dash of orange bitters
  • Orange peel to garnish

MIX IT UP

Combine all ingredients in a mixing glass or cocktail shaker filled with ice. Stir ingredients or shake depending on how diluted you would like cocktail to be and strain into a chilled coupe, or over ice into a rocks glass. Garnish with orange twist. Bellissima!
