MSC Euribia Makes Her Maiden Call in Southampton

Southampton port has welcomed MSC Cruises’ newest flagship, MSC Euribia, as she prepares to embark on winter sailings across Northern Europe. This momentous occasion was observed through a traditional crest exchange involving the ship’s captain, Christopher Pugh, a Warsash Maritime Academy alumnus, and local authorities.

Serving as the newest addition to MSC Cruises’ fleet, MSC Euribia provides UK holidaymakers a unique opportunity to explore destinations like Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium and France without the need for air travel. This decision to designate Southampton as the homeport for MSC Euribia comes in response to the escalating demand for no-fly cruises by UK travellers, a trend popularised by MSC Virtuosa.

MSC Euribia’s guests can discover the charm and allure of Northern Europe during the winter by embarking on a variety of seven-night itineraries. Whether it’s appreciating Amsterdam’s captivating canals, delving into the medieval beauty of Bruges, experiencing the pulsating cultural life of Brussels, savouring a cosy retreat in a quaint Parisian café, or unwinding in Hamburg’s delightful Christmas markets, MSC Euribia promises an unforgettable journey for every type of traveller.

Onboard entertainment on MSC Euribia includes an array of theatre shows in the Carousel Lounge, thrilling water adventures in the Ocean Cay Aquapark, and a myriad of dining and drinking options among the 10 restaurants and 21 bars. In addition, the vessel offers five swimming pools, nine hot tubs, and the MSC Aurea Spa and thermal area for ultimate relaxation. Catering to luxury-seeking travellers, the MSC Yacht Club provides personalised service, premium facilities, and a private setting. The Helios Wine Bar aims to engage the next generation of wine enthusiasts by offering a digital and immersive exploration of their favourite wines.

Antonio Paradiso, Managing Director, MSC Cruises UK and Ireland, noted, “The arrival of MSC Euribia to the UK is an exciting moment, welcoming another ship in our fleet to the port of Southampton. After seeing the success of no-fly cruises on MSC Virtuosa, our newest flagship will give British travellers another chance to explore a variety of destinations through the convenience of a cruise.”

Steve Masters, Harbour Master, Port of Southampton, added: “We are very pleased to welcome MSC Cruises’ newest flagship vessel to Southampton as her home port and look forward to working with the MSC team during their winter sailings in Northern Europe. Having launched our Ready for Tomorrow Sustainability Strategy earlier this year, it is great that MSC Cruises shares our sustainability values by powering their new fleet with liquefied natural gas (LNG), reducing greenhouse gas emissions.”

MSC Euribia is the second ship in MSC Cruises’ fleet to utilise LNG, reinforcing the line’s commitment to minimising greenhouse gas emissions. The ship completed the world’s first net zero greenhouse gases journey in June this year, sailing for four days from Saint-Nazaire, France to Copenhagen, Denmark for her naming ceremony.
