NCL Takes Delivery of Norwegian Prima

Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) has officially received its latest ship, Norwegian Prima, at a handover ceremony in Venice. At the world-famous Fincantieri shipyard, the 3,100-capacity ship was handed to the cruise line, the first of six new ships scheduled through to 2027.

Norwegian Prima features wide-open spaces and expansive deck areas. It will also include NCL’s first upscale open-air food hall, Indulge Food Hall, as well as the largest and first three-level racetrack at sea on the Prima Speedway. Meanwhile, The Drop is the world’s first freefall dry slide offering a 10-storey plunge experience that reaches more G-forces than an accelerating F1 race car.

Other onboard highlights include Ocean Boulevard, which wraps around the entire deck, spanning more than 4,000 meters long. This enables guests to connect to the ocean while enjoying alfresco dining and elevated experiences.

Harry Sommer, President and Chief Executive Officer at NCL, said: “Today we usher in a thrilling new era in cruising as we celebrate the delivery of Norwegian Prima, the long-anticipated first ship in our extraordinary new Prima Class. She is a true testament to our Guest First philosophy as well as our commitment to deliver unforgettable experiences that exceed expectations.

“We thank our wonderful partners at Fincantieri, whose coveted craftsmanship, expertise, and dedication, helped bring Norwegian Prima to life. We cannot wait to welcome our guests on board.”

Norwegian Prima will set sail with customers on board for the first time on 3 September 2022. The inaugural cruise will depart from Amsterdam and visit ports including Tallinn and Stockholm.

  • How great it is to see all these beautiful ships coming our way,
But what a pity us single people don’t have the chance to sail at a reasonable price, can anyone explain to me why all these new massive ships don’t have single cabins readily built in? Even if there
We’re only half of one deck, I’m a seasoned cruiser, but unfortunately I now have to travel alone.

    • Hi Pauline, thank you for your comment. Most cruise ships do have single cabins or single occupency. If you have a cruise in mind we can certainly look at this for you. Thank you.
