P&O Cruises Plans Significant Investment in Arcadia and Aurora

P&O Cruises has announced details of a multi-million-pound investment in its two adults-only ships, Arcadia and Aurora. The initial upgrades are due to be completed by May 2023, including new balcony furniture and chairs in cabins, as well as improvements to open-deck areas. New lounge chairs, sofas, tables and armchairs will be installed around the Neptune Pool on Arcadia.

“Arcadia and Aurora are two of our most beloved ships in the fleet offering guests a more intimate experience in stylish surroundings. After a busy season hosting guests on longer-duration itineraries and world cruises, we will be making sure that both ships look their absolute finest ahead of the summer season,” commented P&O Cruises president Paul Ludlow.

A more comprehensive refit is planned on board Arcadia in November 2024, while Aurora’s is scheduled to take place in April 2025.

P&O Cruises Aurora first entered into service in April 2000. The 1,874-capacity ship is the smallest in the fleet, sailing from Southampton, Auckland, Brisbane, Dubai, Hong Kong, San Francisco, Singapore and Sydney.

Arcadia has a capacity of 2,094 passengers. She started sailing for P&O Cruises in April 2005 and has since visited some of the world’s most incredible destinations including the Caribbean, Canada and North America.

  • So pleased that P&O are keeping these 2 ships.
I love them and wouldn’t dream of going on a large ship. Thank you …. From a loyal customer of both ships

  • Loved our cruise on Aurora in 2022, she was like a slightly shrunken Britannia. We are on Arvia this year to see what the bigger class of ships are like. Perhaps an adult only ship might be right for us next; we have been called "coffin dodgers" and "snobs and elitists" on one of Arvia's group sites after we said we regretted the reduction in formal nights. As the new class of ships is firmly aimed at a younger demographic, might we hope that the adult ships favour more formal?

  • Glad to hear they are going to upgrade these two ships ,but it doesn't matter what they do to them unless they get the food sorted back to how it used to be and get back to p&o standards across all the ships it will not draw us loyal long time cruisers back ,we started cruising on Canberra and we have seen cutbacks over the years some of them we don't really miss but I'm afraid they have gone to far we don't miss night service apart from the wet towel situation who wants wet towels in a morning it can't be healthy and it doesn't matter how much you complain they are not interested I don't think they want us older people anymore they want the young that will spend more money .

  • Its about time they cared for the Aurora, she was their flag ship, its much better than the leviathan ugly shopping malls at sea, enticing people that see the next big thing and make a bee line for that, I have never heard a good word about them, the smaller ships are much better, I hope they sort the awful TVs out, pictures that cannot be seen, nothing to watch late at night, all news and sport, no classical music, become quite hellish on this ship, I remember when it was absolutely gorgeous, treated like royalty, instead of being ripped off at every moment, especially if you are single. its a shame because it is a wonderful holiday, better than on land, with the rip off hotels. Could someone sort this state of affairs out, I know how the ships were laid up tragically, but its no reason to short change their loyal customers

  • We have sailed on Arcadia several times. Loved every minute.
Looking forward to our next voyage with
P and O and Arcadia is at the top of our list.

  • We are cruising on Aurora this May and need
Luggage labels please tell me where I can obtain 8 labels ,thankyou

    • Hi John, your luggage labels will be available to print from your Cruise Personaliser closer to departure. Thank you.
