The best things in life are free and Mykonos is proof. A stroll around quaint Mykonos Town needn’t cost a penny (provided you can resist to boutiques and tavernas, and let’s be honest, who can?) Little lanes and walkways tend to offer some respite from the sun at the height of afternoon too. Explore the Old Port and the waterfront, then tuck into grilled octopus at Katerina’s Restaurant.
Delos Island is to Mykonos what Pompeii is to Naples. A trove of ancient Greek treasures and archaeological gems, the island is the mythical birthplace of Greek god, Apollo and his rippling marble torso appears often. Explore the House of Cleopatra and the Lions’ Terrace, with time to see the Agora of the Italians too. The beaches here are also worth packing a towel for.
Windmills are ubiquitous with the Greek Isles and Mykonos has Kato Mili. You’ll find them in the town itself and our advice is to get there at sunrise to enjoy them without a crowd.
