Your Mini Guide To Mykonos

Greece is back on the agenda and its most hedonistic isle is right at the top of our holiday wish list. Mykonos embodies everything we love about the Mediterranean and a Greek Isles cruise. It’s charming, stacked with culture, delicious wherever you dine – at the beach or up in the hills – and the special little island hideout is as magic the first time around as it is the fifth. Mykonos never loses its sparkle; here’s our mini guide to making the most of your time there.

What to do in Mykonos

Stroll Mykonos Town

The best things in life are free and Mykonos is proof. A stroll around quaint Mykonos Town needn’t cost a penny (provided you can resist to boutiques and tavernas, and let’s be honest, who can?) Little lanes and walkways tend to offer some respite from the sun at the height of afternoon too. Explore the Old Port and the waterfront, then tuck into grilled octopus at Katerina’s Restaurant.

Sail to Delos Island

Delos Island is to Mykonos what Pompeii is to Naples. A trove of ancient Greek treasures and archaeological gems, the island is the mythical birthplace of Greek god, Apollo and his rippling marble torso appears often. Explore the House of Cleopatra and the Lions’ Terrace, with time to see the Agora of the Italians too. The beaches here are also worth packing a towel for.

See the windmills of Kato Mili

Windmills are ubiquitous with the Greek Isles and Mykonos has Kato Mili. You’ll find them in the town itself and our advice is to get there at sunrise to enjoy them without a crowd.

Sip sunset drinks in a lighthouse

The Armenistis Lighthouse is known to be one of the best sunset appreciation spots in Mykonos. The lighthouse and the views it offers are stunningly beautiful, and you won’t need to pay to reserve a table here. Mykonos may have shaken off its party isle reputation, but that doesn’t mean you can’t let your hair down a little…

Eat dinner in Little Venice

Perched on the edge of Mykonos Town, Little Venice juts right up to the sea, making for some pretty unforgettable evening meals. It’s serene and the sunsets are deliriously good; what we’re saying is the while it might cost you a little more to eat and drink here, it’s worth it.
