Cunard Celebrates Queen Anne’s Keel Laying

Cunard has marked the laying of Queen Anne’s keel in a traditional celebration held last month. Attended by Captain Inger Thorhauge, the ceremony involved a specially commissioned coin alongside an original coin from the ship’s namesake’s reign.

The laying of the keel formally recognises the start of construction and Queen Anne’s ceremony took place at the Fincantieri Marghera shipyard in Venice, Italy.

Carnival UK President Sture Myrmell said:

We’re thrilled to celebrate this exciting construction milestone for Queen Anne. Over the last three years, world-leading designers have worked with master shipbuilders at Fincantieri to design a ship that reinforces our position as a world-famous luxury brand across all continents.

Queen Anne will be enjoyed for many generations to come, and we look forward to welcoming her to our fleet.

The new Cunard ship is due to enter service at the start of 2024, where she will join Queen Mary 2, Queen Victoria, and Queen Elizabeth. Her maiden voyage is a seven-night journey to Lisbon, which will include an overnight call to the Portuguese capital.
