Princess Cruises Announces Largest-Ever Japan Season for 2027

Princess Cruises has revealed its most expansive Japan season to date for 2027. Featuring 78 departures and 50 unique itineraries, the upcoming programme promises an unforgettable voyage across the Land of the Rising Sun, all aboard the two sister ships – Diamond Princess and Sapphire Princess – both built in Japan.

Sailing roundtrip from the Tokyo region between March and December 2027, this historic deployment of Japan cruises showcases Princess Cruises’ deep-rooted connection with the country, bringing guests closer to its fascinating heritage, vibrant festivals, and timeless natural beauty. The new season of sailings goes on sale on 20 August 2025.

Princess Japan 2027 itinerary highlights

Cruises will range from seven to 28 days and visit 45 ports across six countries, including Japan, Taiwan, South Korea, and Vietnam. With such diversity in itinerary design, the 2027 season caters to first-time visitors as well as seasoned travellers looking to explore lesser-known corners of Japan and beyond.

Among the season’s standout offerings are the Cherry Blossom Voyages, perfectly timed to follow the iconic bloom from the southern to northern regions of the country. Travellers will also be able to join Festival Cruises that coincide with Japan’s most celebrated summer events – including the Aomori Nebuta and Tokushima Awa Odori dance festivals – offering authentic cultural encounters and extended evening stays in port.

For those looking to fully explore the country, Circle and Grand Japan itineraries will circumnavigate the archipelago, with visits to major cities such as Osaka, Hiroshima, Nagasaki, and Kobe. Alternatively, sailings to Okinawa and Taiwan offer a blend of subtropical beauty and cultural depth, while Japan Explorer cruises focus on iconic locations like Shimizu for Mount Fuji, Kobe for Kyoto, and Kagoshima.

A highlight of the Princess Cruises 2027 Japan season is the opportunity to experience seven of Japan’s most spectacular summer festivals. With late-night departures built into select itineraries, guests can truly immerse themselves in each celebration, from the dazzling floats of Aomori’s Nebuta Festival to the thrilling energy of Kochi’s Yosakoi Dance Festival and the Kumano Fireworks display.

In addition to cultural enrichment, the 2027 Japan season features calls at 12 ‘More Ashore’ ports, allowing guests to enjoy extended evenings in destinations such as Hiroshima, Hakodate, Sakata, and even Vietnam’s Halong Bay. Throughout their journey, travellers will have access to 21 UNESCO World Heritage Sites, including Mount Fuji, the Hiroshima Peace Memorial, and the ancient monuments of Kyoto.

Scenic cruising opportunities add another layer of magic, from sailing through the picturesque Kanmon Straits and Japan’s Inland Sea to admiring the mighty Sakurajima Volcano from Kagoshima Bay. Whether marvelling at Tokyo’s futuristic skyline or wandering through Kyoto’s peaceful Zen gardens, each sailing promises an unforgettable journey through Japan’s contrasts.
