Oceania recently welcomed a brand-new ship to its fleet, the eagerly anticipated Allura. Our Head of Sales, Francesca, was invited to join the inaugural sailing, where she was eager to explore what this incredible ship had to offer. Here, she shares her first impressions and experiences on board.
Our adventure began in the sweltering heat of Genoa, where my husband and I were full of excitement and anticipation to be among the first to explore this new ship. Thanks to our Penthouse Suite, we were whisked through priority embarkation.
The new Oceania Cruises welcomed us through its grand atrium, which most certainly made an amazing first impression! We were warmly welcomed by our Steward and Butler, who guided us to our suite on deck 11.
The Penthouse Suite was a haven of luxury and comfort, beautifully balanced to make you feel at home yet surrounded by elegance. The walk-in wardrobe, expansive bathroom with a double vanity, and a vast, inviting bed were just the beginning. The balcony, with its cosy chairs, became a cherished nook for relaxation, complete with complimentary chocolates and chilled prosecco awaiting our arrival.
As we set off to explore, Oceania Allura did not disappoint, spoiling us with various dining venues. The Aquamar Café quickly became a favourite, with its health-focused offerings like acai bowls and Thai salads, enjoyed in a serene poolside setting.
Our culinary journey continued at Waves Café with excellent quick-service meals, while the Grand Dining Room elevated our experience further.
Allura’s Grand Dining Room is a centrepiece of the ship, both in design and in culinary excellence. Its soaring ceilings, white-and-gold palette, and striking central orangery create a bright, airy ambiance that feels like dining in a European palace at sea. Floor-to-ceiling windows bathe the space in natural light, particularly stunning during golden hour. The menu was equally elegant – with a diverse, daily-changing selection of classic Continental dishes and creative contemporary options. The service was exceptional, with staff who remembered not just our names but also our preferences. Every dinner felt like a special occasion.
Evenings on board were spent indulging in hand-shaken martinis at Martinis, a refined yet cosy space with live piano music that added to its nostalgic glamour. Entertainment continued in the Allura Lounge, where nightly performances ranged from vocalists and classical musicians to engaging guest speakers.
The following morning found us at Aquamar Kitchen, where wholesome breakfast options like egg white omelettes, fresh smoothies, and overnight oats started the day on a nourishing note.
Despite my usual reservations when it comes to buffets, the onboard offering was a revelation, offering an impressive selection without the chaos – thoughtfully laid out, immaculately presented, and constantly refreshed.
We also found ourselves enjoying some of the ship’s more unexpected features. The Library, a peaceful sanctuary with walls of books and plush armchairs, became my go-to for a quiet moment with a novel.
The Artist Loft, a creative space offering art classes with a resident artist, was another hidden gem – ideal for those who want to indulge their artistic side while at sea.
To our delight, Allura boasts an impressive array of sports and wellness amenities as well. From an 18-hole mini-golf course to a virtual driving range, there was no shortage of ways to stay active. The Fitness Centre was top-tier, featuring Technogym equipment and panoramic views, while the Aquamar Spa offered a holistic escape complete with massage therapies, saunas, and wellness consultations.
As our time aboard Oceania Allura came to a close, one thing was certain – this ship is a true game-changer in luxury cruising. From its thoughtful design and elevated dining experiences to its surprising array of wellness and leisure facilities, Allura offers something for every type of traveller.

The ship sounds fabulous! I'd appreciate learning more about the "performances" and the less expensive cabins.
Thank you
