Eight new Viking river cruise ships have joined the fleet Viking, in an event that coincides with the company’s 25th anniversary celebrations.
Four of the new Viking ships, Viking Fjorgyn, Viking Kari, Viking Radgrid and Viking Skaga, have been specifically designed to navigate the River Seine. As a result, guests can be transported right into the heart of Paris at the exclusive docking location of Port de Grenelle, which puts the Eiffel Tower just a short walk away.
The other four new Viking river cruise ships, Viking Egdir, Viking Gersemi, Viking Gymir and Viking Hervor, will sail Viking’s popular itineraries on the rivers Rhine, Main and Danube.
Torstein Hagen, Chairman of Viking, commented: “As we mark 25 years of sailing the iconic waterways of the world, it is always a proud day when we welcome new ships to our fleet and offer more opportunities for curious travellers to explore the world in comfort.
“Today we are especially pleased to honour eight talented and accomplished individuals as godmothers of our newest river ships, and we look forward to the start of another season of European river voyages.”
Earlier this year, the company launched Viking Expeditions, including its first Polar Class vessel, the Viking Octantis. By the end of 2022, Viking will have also welcomed a second expedition ship, as well as two new ocean ships and new purpose-built vessels designed for exploring the Nile and Mekong rivers and new Mississippi River voyages.
