Holland America Line will welcome ms Nieuw Statendam to the fleet in December 2018 and she’s set to raise the bar for 21st century elegance, carrying forward Holland America Line’s signature service and classic style.
As sister ship to ms Koningsdam, ms Nieuw Statendam will be the second Pinnacles-class ship in the Holland America fleet with a design inspired by the fluid curves of musical instruments.
Through Holland America Line’s partnership with BBC Earth, guests will be provided with a new way to experience the world’s natural wonders through ground-breaking concerts, films, game shows and trivia contests, all coupled with activities for the children.
Wine connoisseurs and novices alike can experience the art of winemaking in BLEND by Chateau Ste. Michelle. This intimate venue accommodates ten guests who will go on to blend their own wine from a selection of five barrels of single-vineyard red wine and learn about the wine from the wine expert who will be leading the blending session. Guests can then opt to enjoy their blended wine at dinner, in the privacy of their stateroom or save it for a special occasion back home.
B.B King’s Blues Club brings the best of Memphis music to sea. The eight-piece band performs nightly with music ranging from fast and funky to soulful and smooth. Guests can be part of the show in Billboard Onboard as live musicians rock the show with 50 years of chart-topping hits as they sing and play along with trivia questions, while over at Lincoln Centre Stage there are outstanding live music performances to be heard.
At the heart of the ship, soaring three decks high, ms Nieuw Statendam’s central atrium will serve as a backdrop for guests, with subtly changing high-definition projections from wispy floating clouds by day to dramatic constellations of the night sky come evening.
Ms Nieuw Statendam will feature all the hallmarks of a Pinnacle Class ship, from grand light-filled spaces and visual drama to lavish interiors all designed by hospitality designer Adam D. Tihany.
After an eventful day ashore or an evening on board, ms Nieuw Statendam’s stateroom provide a welcoming haven at the end of it all. Featuring thoughtful modern touches from bedside USB ports, frameless shower doors and customised cabinets, these modern touches make for a home from home.
Are you looking to cruise with the family or perhaps you’re a solo cruiser? Ms Nieuw Statendam offers exclusive Family Oceanview Staterooms that can accommodate up to five people with two bathrooms — one with a bath, shower, sink and toilet, and the other with shower and sink. Staterooms designed specifically for solo travellers come in at approximately 127–172 sq. ft. with a signature Mariner’s Dream™ bed, room safe, mini fridge, soap, lotion and shampoo from Elemis Aromapure, a flat-panel TV with video-on-demand and more.
Fleetwide dining favourites will also have a home on board ms Nieuw Statendam, including the Pinnacle Grill steakhouse and the highly-acclaimed French- style brasserie, Sel de Mer.
From Broiled Alaskan King Salmon to Double-Cut Kurobuta Pork Chop served with boutique wines from the Pacific Northwest and other celebrated vineyards from around the world, why not make a reservation and dine in an intimate setting, where tables are set with crisp linens and dazzling stemware in Pinnacle Grill?
Sel de Mer, which translates to ‘sea salt’ in French, is an intimate seafood brasserie with a contemporary twist on French seafood classics. À la carte dishes ranging from fresh oysters to salt-crusted whole fish to bouillabaisse and reservations will be recommended.
Great food doesn’t just end there. With a menu that celebrates sharing, the authentic Italian restaurant of Canaletto has great food and is even better when shared among your family and friends. Try Ravioli Ai Gamberi a classic Italian pasta spaghetti pomodoro before rounding your meal off with tiramisu or a scoop of gelato or two – buon appetito! At Tamarind’s, exotic menus evoking the culinary traditions of Southeast Asia, China and Japan have been inspired by nature’s elements: water, wood, fire, earth and ice and is a dining experience you don’t want to miss.
