Discover the jewels of the Middle East aboard the Sapphire Princess. Exuding the charm and signature features typical of the Princess Cruises fleet, Sapphire Princess is one of only two Princess ships ever to be built in Japan. Introduced into the fleet in 2004, and rejuvenated with an extensive refurbishment in 2012, the Sapphire Princess is one of the largest ships in Princess Cruises’ Grand class, along with sister ship Diamond Princess.
Sparkling surroundings, attentive crew and intriguing Far East itineraries set Sapphire Princess apart from her counterparts. Exotic destinations including Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia and Japan are opened up for exploration through sailings on board one of the most elegant ships in the Princess Cruises fleet.
The spectacular atrium sits at the heart of Sapphire Princess and serves as the hub of the ship. While away the hours surrounded by street performers and a hive of activity throughout the day and night, complementing your people watching with wine, sushi and tapas at Vines Wine Bar or with speciality coffees and pastries at the patisserie.
With a choice of five pools on board, there is a space for everyone to take to the sunbed or soak beneath the sun. The indoor Calypso Reef & Pool is a popular spot regardless of weather conditions; the retractable crystal roof keeping the rain out and the balmy temperatures in. Also located on Lido deck is Neptunes Reef & Pool; the ship’s main open-air pool area and host to the popular Princess Cruises signature attraction Movies Under the Stars. Enjoy sporting events and family favourites during the day and Hollywood blockbusters in the evening; evening showings are especially popular thanks to snuggle blankets and complimentary warm popcorn as standard.
Sapphire Princess’s Far Eastern heritage is reflected perfectly in the Lotus Spa; an Asian themed retreat offering ultimate relaxation. Indulge in a selection of treatments from the extensive treatment list or have a qualified therapist take care of your formal night preparations at the hair and beauty salon. Enjoy rest and relaxation with a sea view at The Sanctuary, an adults-only, open air haven where plush padded loungers, private cabanas, light meals and signature drinks align to create an area of Zen-like serenity.
A high-tech fitness centre is the perfect place to burn off last night’s second helpings; hop on a spinning cycle or have a qualified instructor put you through your paces in a fitness class. If you prefer your activities with a competitive edge, head to the sports court for a game of tennis or basketball. Golfers can perfect their swing on the golf simulator and the whole family can get involved on the nine-hole putting course.
Princess Cruises’ signature [email protected] programme encourages passengers to channel their creativity in the dedicated ceramics studio or enhance their photography skills with regular workshops.
With age-specific kid’s clubs, video arcades for teen travellers, and countless activities for the grown-ups, Sapphire Princess really does offer something for the whole family on their Far Eastern adventures.
The grand Italian-style piazza may be the heart of the ship, but it is the 705-seat Princess Theatre that is the heart of her entertainment. The two-storey space fills quickly with passengers eager to watch some of the finest actors, musicians and dancers at sea.
The unobstructed views from Skywalker’s Disco & Observation Lounge make the venue a popular place both day and night. Intergalactic-inspired décor complements the scenic views, making for a unique scene in which to enjoy a pre-dinner cocktail or a post-dinner boogie.
Princess’ signature Club Fusion, Wheelhouse Bar and Explorer’s Lounge are all present on board Sapphire Princess; multi-use venues that play host to live music, cabaret, game shows and the infamous Princess talent show. Alternatively, the quieter Wake Bar offers great views with which to enjoy a cocktail or two.
Flirt with Lady Luck is the oriental-inspired casino, where slots, table games and cocktails guarantee a fabulous evening. Those who aren’t seasoned poker hands needn’t worry; educational classes take place every day, so you can work on your hand and perfect your poker face.
Alongside freshly baked light bites in the eateries that surround the piazza, Sapphire Princess offers a whole plethora of other dining options to tempt her guests.
The main dining rooms take centre stage for gourmet dinners, with both Traditional Dining and Anytime Dining on offer to diners. The International Dining Room hosts diners opting for Traditional Dining, with guests enjoying dinner at the same time and same table each evening. Choose between sittings of 5.30pm, 6.30pm and 8.30pm, and enjoy the camaraderie of making new friends over the course of your holiday.
Anytime Dining is an increasingly popular choice, providing passengers a greater freedom to enjoy long days ashore without the need to rush for dinner once back on board. Dine whenever you please between 6pm and 9.30pm, choosing from four dining rooms on board; Pacific Moon, Santa Fe, Savoy and Vivaldi.
Speciality restaurants are offered courtesy of Sterling Steakhouse and Sabatini’s; each equally delicious and a fantastic way to spend a special occasion or to make the most of your holiday with a little extra indulgence.
Special anniversaries and celebrations call for Ultimate Balcony Dining; a personal and intimate dining experience where the delectable eats and impeccable service of the main dining room is brought to your cabin. A dedicated waiter will set the table for dinner, the backdrop provided by ocean views and champagne setting the tone for a perfect evening.
Sapphire Princess offers a multitude of dining options for those who prefer something a little more casual. The Horizon Court Restaurant mirrors the quality of the food served in the main restaurant, yet the dress code is casual and the choice is extensive. Dedicated station serve foods from around the world, cooked to order and served piping hot, whether that may be an omelette for breakfast or a stir fry for dinner. Prego’s Pizzeria and Trident Grill keep the food coming throughout sea days, with ice cream from Sundaes providing the perfect way to cool off in the sun.
Dress for Sapphire Princess as you would for an elegant land based resort, with the exception of two formal nights each week. These occasions call for all out glamour, with tuxedos or dark suits for the gentlemen and cocktail dresses, gowns or trouser suits for the ladies. Up the sparkle and enjoy the great sense of occasion throughout the ship.
