Bergen

Whether it's the heartwarming summers or the snowy winters, Bergen's weather offers a wide range of experiences that only add to its charm. For many, it serves as their first introduction to the Norwegian Fjords - and what an introduction it is.

Where is Bergen?

Bergen is a city located in Vestland county on the west coast of Norway. Specifically, it is situated between Hardangerfjord in the south and the Sognefjord in the north, right in the heart of the Fjord Norway area.

The Heart of the Fjords

A breathtaking gateway to the majesty of Norway's fjords

The city is surrounded by seven mesmerising mountains, granting easy access to some of the most famed fjords in the world. It offers the perfect blend of urban life and adventure, making it a must-see on any trip to Norway.

What can I see and do in Bergen?

Bryggen

Bryggen is a prime example of Norway's rich historical heritage. As a UNESCO-listed World Heritage Site, it is a testament to the city's historical role in international trade and today showcases an impressive collection of well-preserved wooden buildings that line the eastern shore of Vågen Harbor. Each building, painted in vibrant colours, boasts a distinctive architectural design and the structures are adorned with gables facing the sea.

Mount Fløyen

Mount Fløyen (originally known as Fløyfjellet) is one of the 'Seven Mountains' that surround the city of Bergen, Norway. At a height of 399 meters above sea level, it provides panoramic views of the city and the surrounding region. The Fløibanen funicular, a triumph of engineering that opened in 1918, is one of the most popular means to reach the top.

Bergen Fish Market

The Bergen Fish Market, known locally as Fisketorget, ranks among Bergen's most iconic and visited attractions. Situated in the heart of the city, next to the scenic harbour, the market has displays teeming with a variety of fresh seafood, including mouth-watering prawns, crabs, lobsters, scallops, and a myriad of fish species.
