Valentine’s Day is fast approaching so we thought what better time than to look at the best ways of spending this romantic day on board. Cruising is one of the most romantic ways to see the world and the amazing amenities available these days allow couples to choose from such a thrilling array of ideas to celebrate a special day in the calendar in style. On that note we decided to take a look at the top 5 things couples could do for the ultimate Valentine’s Day on board a cruising holiday.
There are so many romantic things to do on board a cruise but we thought we’d share our favourites. Firstly to start the day, it has to be breakfast in bed, perhaps with the added touch of a glass of champagne. If your travelling in a balcony stateroom then open the doors and sit outside and add a wonderful view to the equation to make it extra special. Then we recommend taking a stroll around the deck, just the two of you and soaking up the morning atmosphere on board. Head for the spa and enjoy a signature massage for a relaxing treat and pampering session, maybe even add a few extra touches or a salon session for the ladies. Follow this with a delightful laze around the pool area before enjoying an afternoon tea in style together.
Valentine’s Day with most cruise lines is celebrated with a black tie formal evening to create a special occasion and a brilliant opportunity for a photograph. Dress up and enjoy a candlelit dinner for two in the evening. Dinner options range from the specially decorated main dining room or maybe even opt for a speciality restaurant, two of our favourites have to be The White Room on board P&O Cruises Ventura as well as the beautiful Pinnacle Grill on board Holland America’s Nieuw Amsterdam, to name a few, but there are plenty more to choose from for a lovely evening. You may even prefer balcony dining, a treat just for the two of you in the private surroundings of your own veranda, an exclusive evening to mark the occasion. After dinner head to the theatre and enjoy a magnificent musical production or perhaps head to the cinema on board for a romantic film. Finish the night with a dance at one of the many nightspots.
Not only can you have a great day but cruising also allows for special gifts to be arranged for a loved one. Why not treat your special someone to flowers, a bottle of wine or even hand crafted chocolates? Nothing says I love you like a dozen red roses, especially when cruising the sights of the Mediterranean or warm waters of the Caribbean. Passengers can even choose to renew their vows on board with a wonderful ceremony conducted by the Captain himself. You may not be married ye and be thinking about how you wish to spend that special day, have you considered a cruise? If not then look into it, the packages are amazing and even give you the option of combining the wedding with the honeymoon, all rolled into one….perfect!
We wonder if they’ll be anymore surprise proposals like the spectacular one aboard Cunard’s Queen Mary 2 this time last year.
