By Katie, Luxury Account Manager
While docked in the heart of Liverpool, I had the pleasure of stepping aboard the Silver Dawn, one of the shining stars in Silversea’s ultra-luxury fleet. This small boutique ship carries just 596 guests at full capacity, offering an incredibly intimate, personalised cruising experience. From the moment you step on board, it’s clear that every detail is crafted with elegance and refinement in mind.
First Impressions: Light, Airy, and Elegantly Understated
The first thing that struck me was the ship’s interior design – a calm and contemporary palette of soft pinks, greys, and light tones that lend a sense of serenity and spaciousness. The atmosphere feels more like a chic luxury hotel than a traditional cruise ship, with natural light flooding in at every opportunity.

Panorama Lounge: A Room With a View (and a Vibe)
Our tour began in the Panorama Lounge, a beautiful, multi-use venue with stunning sea views. By day, it’s the perfect peaceful spot for a coffee or cocktail; by night, it comes alive with entertainment, from live music to the occasional round of karaoke. It’s a guest favourite and a great first stop.
The Connoisseur’s Corner: Sophistication and a Hidden Gem
Next, we ducked into the The Connoisseur’s Corner, a small, intimate cigar lounge tucked away with chic leather sofas, rich wood accents, and vintage charm. Guests can purchase premium cigars and brandies here, making it perfect for those looking for a refined evening ritual.

Suite Life: Elegant, Spacious, and Light-Filled
We were fortunate to view two of the ship’s stunning suite categories.
First was the Panorama Suite (Suite 946). Beautifully appointed with a floor-to-ceiling window that bathes the space in natural light, the decor is sleek and elegant, featuring a large double bed, comfortable sitting area, spacious bathroom, and a generous walk-in wardrobe.
Then we stepped into the Superior Veranda Suite, which offered all of the same elegance with the added bonus of a private veranda – ideal for enjoying breakfast with a view or simply watching the world go by in privacy.

Dining Onboard: A Culinary Journey
Silver Dawn is a dream for food lovers, and we had the chance to visit several of its standout dining venues:
- Atlantide – We had the pleasure of dining here, one of the ship’s most inviting fine dining spaces. Open for complimentary breakfast, lunch, and dinner, Atlantide serves a beautifully curated menu in a warm, refined setting. The service was outstanding, and the ambience felt relaxed yet elegant – an ideal choice at any time of day.
- La Dame – This fine dining French restaurant carries a $60 cover charge, and it’s worth every penny for those seeking a gourmet experience. It’s intimate, elegant, and in high demand, so early reservations are a must.
- S.A.L.T. Kitchen – One of the most popular restaurants onboard, S.A.L.T. (Sea And Land Taste) Kitchen is a culinary concept unique to Silversea, focused on regional dishes inspired by the destinations visited during the cruise. The menu changes based on itinerary, offering a true taste of a place. This venue is complimentary, but I strongly recommend booking early, as it fills up fast!
- Silver Note – A moody, atmospheric venue that combines a supper club vibe with live jazz and soul music. Think low lighting, rich textures, and a menu designed for a more experiential night out.
- La Terrazza – A versatile space that offers a most impressive luxurious buffet-style lunch by day, transforming into an à la carte Italian restaurant by night. The views, the service, and the fresh Mediterranean flavours make this a highlight.
- Kaiseki – An Asian-fusion restaurant offering complimentary lunches and refined evening meals for a $40pp cover charge. Expect authentic, beautifully plated cuisine and a tranquil ambience.

Dolce Vita: Where Everyone Gathers
Our final stop was Dolce Vita, the ship’s central hub and a favourite for pre-dinner cocktails or a relaxed evening drink. It’s stylish and comfortable, boasting real Italian glamour and plush seating that invites conversation while piano music entertains . It really embodies the social heart of the ship.
Otium Spa: A Sanctuary at Sea
One of the standout features of Silver Dawn is the Otium Spa, which takes wellness at sea to a whole new level. Rooted in the Roman philosophy of indulgent relaxation, Otium is more than a spa; think heated loungers, a beautifully designed thermal suite, steam rooms, and a serene hydrotherapy pool area. The treatments range from classic massages to signature rituals exclusive to Silversea, all carried out in soothing, spacious treatment rooms. You can even indulge in Otium-inspired amenities right in your suite, like a drawn bath complete with Champagne and chocolates. This spa redefines what it means to truly unwind while cruising.

Where in the World?
Silver Dawn sails to some of the world’s most iconic and inspiring destinations, all while offering a luxurious home base on board. Depending on the season, you’ll find her exploring the sun-drenched coasts of the Mediterranean, the culture-rich cities of Northern Europe, and even transatlantic crossings for those seeking longer, more leisurely journeys. With Silversea’s destination focus, guests can enjoy immersive shore excursions and the chance to connect more deeply with each port of call, whether it’s sipping local wines in Provence or strolling the historic streets of Lisbon.
Final Thoughts
My brief time onboard Silver Dawn offered just a glimpse into the world of ultra-luxury cruising that Silversea is known for. With its impeccable design, warm and attentive service, and a focus on fine dining and comfort, it’s clear that this ship delivers a five-star experience at sea, without the crowds.
Whether you’re a seasoned luxury cruiser or someone looking to elevate your next holiday, Silver Dawn promises a voyage unlike any other. And if you’re planning to sail, don’t wait too long to book those dining experiences – S.A.L.T. Kitchen and La Dame are popular for good reason!
