MSC Cruises has revealed details of its new luxury cruise line brand, Explora Journeys.

The new cruise line will introduce four new all-suite and all-balcony ships, with the 922-passenger Explora I set to be the first to launch in spring 2023. The remaining ships will debut in 2024, 2025 and 2026.

Each 14-deck vessel, contracted to be built at the Fincantieri shipyard in Montfalcone, will feature four swimming pools and nine eateries. The ships will also employ the latest green technologies, including hybrid power and noise-reduction methods, making them some of the most eco-friendly vessels at sea.

“Building a luxury brand that will redefine the cruise experience and create a category of its own has been a long-held vision of mine and my family,” said Pierfrancesco Vago, Executive Chairman of MSC Group’s cruise business and broader passenger division at a steel cutting ceremony in Italy.

“Inspired by our personal travel wishes, Explora Journeys will be an ocean escape like no other, allowing guests to relax, make memories, and cherish the time at sea with their loved ones. After all, time is the ultimate luxury.”

‘Journeys’ with the new MSC Cruises luxury brand will start at seven nights in duration, with itineraries in the inaugural season programme to include destinations such as Saint Tropez and Reykjavik, along with lesser-known places such as Bozcaada and Kastellorizo in Turkey, and the wildly remote Lofoten Islands.

More details on Explora Journeys will be available soon.
