Cruise novices

We began this new venture with great trepidation not knowing what to expect, despite all the assurances from Bolsover Cruise Club and Friends. The start was horrific with a 21 hours flight delay- why did we book with BA? As soon as we eventually arrived at Singapore the holiday and Ruby anniversary celebration really began. The transfer to the hotel was faultless ; the hotel was a dream and the city was exciting, vibrant and wonderfully clean. With our mood lifted we embarked on our luxury voyage of discovery not to be disappointed. Our balcony- cabin and staff were wonderful. The food, service. gym classes, lectures, shows and excursion tours were great. We discovered that the free and widely laundry was a great place to meet people from around the world!!! Being brave we took the free shuttle into Bangkok- used the sky train; the river boats and walked through the peaceful demonstrations, by mistake. The temples were magnificent yet gave an aura of serenity. Sea days were an opportunity to take gym classes- stopped by a shout of ‘look at the dolphins’; to enjoy reading; to attend lectures; to indulge in doing nothing and drinking excellent coffee. Vietnam proved a challenge to our sanitised and ordered senses: the smells; the traffic; the bustle and chaos and the contrast between stark, communist officialdom and grass roots capitalism. Hong Kong was the finale- great as ever.
