Smooth Sailing with Fred. Olsen
By Gemma on 22 September 2017
Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines | Braemar Reviews

Having never sailed with Fred Olsen before I was a little apprehensive for a few reasons. I was concerned that there may not be much to keep the kids entertained & that the passengers may also have been a bit put out by having kids onboard. I also thought that the shows would be quite low key and perhaps tailored towards the generation that Freds draws in. My impressions did a total 360 degree flip!!...

Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines | Balmoral Reviews

Had a fantastic cruise on Balmoral in August round the British Isles, loved the ship and everything about it. The weather is perfect to say it was a British cruise, had some sun to enjoy the lovely deck space on Balmoral. Giants Causeway is a must for anyone docking at Belfast.

HAPPY DAYS
By Sarah on 29 August 2017
Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines | Balmoral Reviews

Fred Olsen is not the first company you would think of for a school holiday cruise but it has never disappointed my family and the other families we have met while sailing on Fred Olsen during the summer months. What makes this company and her small fleet of classic cruise ships so appealing? Firstly, it is so easy to drive a short distance to join one of their local departure points in this instance Newcastle....

Lovely ship shame about the evening meals
By kay kearns on 14 August 2017
Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines | Balmoral Reviews

We liked the Balmoral very much and the staff were excellent and very helpful. Our cabin, a superior balcony suite, was very roomy with loads of storage space. The bathroom was definitely overdue for a refit but again was clean and quite large. The breakfast in both the Palms and the Avon restaurant were good but the evening meals in the Spey were very disappointing. There was real evidence of severe cut backs in both...

Cabin 4132 – holiday spoilt by lack of sleep!
By Peter Preston on 10 July 2017
Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines | Balmoral Reviews

Wonderful food; shows brilliant; cleanliness 100%; service top notch; staff always very friendly and obliging. Kept fully informed when unable to dock because of strong winds for our final trip to shore. The cruise was spoilt for us as we had very little sleep due to the vibration and noise from the engines plus we were unable to turn down the cold air conditioning permanently blowing onto the bed near the window. This was our...

A good way to do a river cruise
By linda howrihane on 30 May 2017
Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines | Braemar Reviews

We went on a French river cruise, we liked the idea of going on an ocean going liner from Southampton to the rivers, rather than fly to the continent and go on the small river boats. We sailed quite a way up the Gironde to Bordeaux and along the Seine to Rouen and had trips to Bayeaux Tapestry and Paris. for us it was a good way to see these things.

Not the big ones!
By John Parnham on 30 May 2017
Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines | Braemar Reviews

Our last cruise, 2016, was to the French rivers with Fred Olsen’s Braemar and for people of our age (80 +) was a well thought out cruise with good overnight stops. This was our 29th cruise (and probably our last) . We have cruised with many lines but have found Fred Olsen to be more suitable for our taste over the big lines which we found to be some what overwhelming. Like other other Fred...

Fantastic norway cruise on Balmoral
By Louise on 08 October 2016
Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines | Balmoral Reviews

the parking and check in at Newcastle port was very efficient. We were directed to the carpark at the port, the porters took our luggage and we then walked the short distance to the terminal building. The check in was very well organised. priority check in was offered for decks 8,9 and 10 with self-service check in offered for all other passengers. We had booked a premier suite. The cabin was very spacious and was...

From the pre-boarding arrangements at Southampton to luggage reclaim at end of the cruise – everything went wonderfully well! Braemar is a delightful ship that’s suits our requirements perfectly and – as only Fred Olsen ships – attracts folks rather like ourselves. As ever, the crew were first-class in their friendly & attentive service. As always, the entertainment was very enjoyable with a wide range of activities & great shows / entertainers We liked to...

Next To The North Pole
By Celia Maughan on 18 September 2016
Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines | Balmoral Reviews

Who would want to go to Svalbard in the High Arctic where in winter the sun never rises and in summer it never sets, and where the land mass is 60% glaciers and only 800 miles from the North Pole? Well we would! After consulting with Bolsover on different cruise lines sailing to Spitsbergen, and considering the quotations, we chose Fred Olsen Balmoral sailing out of Newcastle on 9th July – Newcastle is an ideal...

Fred Olsen Boudicca – Norwegian Fjords
By Danielle on 01 September 2016
Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines | Boudicca Reviews

I have just returned from a fantastic cruise in the Norwegian Fjords onboard the Boudicca. The service and food onboard was fantastic. I could not fault this at all and I would say the service I received was definitely the best I have had! The itinerary was great visiting Olden, Bergen and Flaam and this ship was a perfect size for us. There was always something to do onboard and the entertainment team were brilliant....

Boudicca azores , portugal and maderia .
By Davena Foster on 31 August 2016
Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines | Boudicca Reviews

What were your initial impressions of the ship/product? Having travelled with Fred Olsen before on the Balmoral I roughly new what to expect as to age of customers and d??cor, but my partner wasnƒ??t as this was his first cruise, so I was a little unsure of how he would enjoy it. On arriving at Greenock after a pleasant 5-hour journey on the road the long stay car park was a little difficult to find...

Never again
By Elaine Godber on 19 August 2016
Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines | Balmoral Reviews

Our first trip with Fred Olsen, previously cruised with Royal Caribbean and Princess. Will be last with Fred, and probably gas put us off cruising completely. Tried to cancel prior to trip as had read about repeated episodes of Norovirus on this ship, but it was too late and I took the decision to go rather than lose over 60% of my money. Wrong decision ! We started with the announcements from the Captain on...

Olsen Cruise
By Dorothy Gibbons on 07 August 2016
Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines | Braemar Reviews

The only slight disappointment we had was that the cabin suite that we upgraded to, although a nice cabin, it was not to the same size and standard as that on the on the Balmoral. Also the singer with the orchestra (Ricky) was far too loud, almost shouting, and the beat on many of the dances was not correct. either a bit too slow or slightly too fast. Ballroom dance has a strict tempo for...

Fab Time on Ms Boudicca!
By Emma A on 13 July 2016
Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines | Boudicca Reviews

Overall I had a fantastic experience. I loved the Boudicca for what audience she was aimed at. I found that the entertainment was superb and enjoyable, after I thought Iƒ??d dislike it. I also felt the food was lovely, great choice in all the restaurants. The cabins were roomy and spacious, even the porthole cabins didn’t feel cramped or hidden away out of sight. The itinerary we sailed on was beautiful it incorporated ports such...

‘It’s like cruising in your slippers’
By Emma on 05 July 2016
Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines | Boudicca Reviews

Boudicca was as I expected an older characteristic ship with plenty of classic features. Fellow passengers agreed that embarkation and disembarkation was simple due to the size and how many passengers were onboard. Nearly all of them commented on how much they’d dislike a large ‘block of flats’ style ship. When I saw the ship docked next to the Msc Preziosa, Boudicca looked tiny and quite dated! Which in some places it was tired BUT...
