Canaries and Azores cruise Sep 2016

Our first cruise with Celebrity and have to say we really enjoyed it. Fantastic crew who were so friendly and helpful and lovely meals in the main restaurant. The cruise did involve quite a few sea days and on reflection I am not sure the Azores were worth it, would have preferred extra time in Madeira, but hey we knew the itinerary before booking. Our stateroom was nice, spotlessley clean, would have liked a bit more wardrobe space but that is only a slight niggle. The trips we booked on Tenerife and Gran Canaria were excellent, and good value the one on the Azores very expensive for what was offered and rather a waste of time, other people booked private tours which cost much less and they saw more of the island, think that would be the way to go if you were considering the Azores as a destination. The only negatives were the very crowded area round the pool but if you went up to the top deck there always seemed to be sunbed available and quiet corners to relax in. The other negative was the quality of entertainment on board, the first week there was very little worth seeing in the theatre, the second week saw some improvement but no what I would call ‘shows’ with singers and dancers. This did not spoil our time on board however and I would still give it five stars and would book another cruise with Celebrity.
The return to Southampton however was chaos, three ships in port and the whole area ground to a halt, sat in our taxi for 30 minutes and moved about 20 yards. Southampton and ABP want our business and the money it brings into Southampton but seem unwilling to try and do anything about the totally inadequate access to the docks, shame on you.
