October 6th 2013 Canaries

Just had the most enjoyable 14 nights to the Canaries on Eclipse, first time with Celebrity
The weather was 90% sunny and in our opinion there was hardly any sea swell at all.
Right from boarding in Southampton, with a glass of champagne, then sitting out on deck in shirt sleeves for the sailaway, could not have been a better welcome to Celebritry.
The cabin was spotless and very roomy including the balcony with plenty of wardrobe space.
The service and the food in the main restaurant was on some nights a bit lacking, and our waiter seemed to take the coments on the food personally and got very nervous, as we tried to explain some of this was the kitchens fault not his. ( This seemed to be the case with all the crew as they were expected to get an exelent mark on the feed back forms, and it created a fear factor, wich to us is not good management).
There was an exelent choice of food in the buffet, and it did not seem crowded as on P.O. ships.
The speciality restaurants were also especially good.
It could get a bit crowded in the bars just before meal times, and the service got a bit slow and the drinks were quite expensive.
The entertainment for us was very good with a wide variety, of acts, we must mention the cruise director Sue as she seemed to be everywere at all times of the day with a cheery chat and a smile, ( not to mention the high heels).
Our cabin staff were exelent and nothing was to mouch trouble for them.
Unless you went on the trips some of the destinations were not all that exiteing, and there was a charge on the shuttle buses some quite expensive.
Celebrity seem to reward loyal passengers with a lot more perks than P.O. and there seemed to be a lot more contented passengers on the ship, none of the petty moans and groans as again on P.O.
Disembarkation went very smoothly with the luggage in clearly marked orderly lines.
Overall we had a wonderful holiday and will definatley sail with Celebrity again, just wish they did more 14 night holidays out of Southhamton.
“P.O. really have got a lot of catching up to do”
