Alaska Spectacular
Bill, Jayne and Ann Blanchard | September 25, 2018 | Celebrity Cruises | Celebrity Millennium
The Celebrity Alaska cruise from Seward to Vancouver is a bucket-list must. We used the Alaska railroad to get from Anchorage to Seward – an early start but a spectacular journey – go for the premium seats on the Skydeck with breakfast. We even saw a black bear. Transfer from the train to ship is all arranged and your bags go from Anchorage direct to your cabin.
We were blessed with blue skies for the whole 7 days. The Hubbard Glacier is fantastic – looked like we were right next to it but it was 1.5 miles away and 300ft tall. Lots of ‘calving’ too.
Skagway was too windy to dock so we headed for Juneau then back to Skagway the next day. Icy Point Straight was lovely and the whale watching trip was great, we even saw a humpback breach which is quite rare.
On the way down we were thrilled to see the northern lights not one night but two with the second showing being spectacular.
Lovely to see the Iditarod huskies in summer camp in Juneau too.
Food was amazing as always, staff impeccable, polite and friendly.
Boarding and disembarking process very smooth.
But all praise should go to Captain Alex who did everything to make this cruise extra special – he was fantastic.
Not a cheap cruise but a once in a lifetime one. The only complaint is a minor one in that the wardrobe doors needed fixing but a minor niggle.
Celebrity certainly is a great cruise line.
