Good Cruise – but some things need improving
Barry Kendall | December 10, 2019 | Celebrity Cruises | Celebrity Millennium
Boarded Ship at Hong Kong and it was quite quick – we were Concierge class so it was a quicker line.
Once on board found out that the previous cruise had Norovirus on board – it later transpired that we had it on board as well. Also everyone at our dining table had been informed about the virus before they set off on holiday – so not at all pleased.
Some of the things we noticed that had changed in Celebrity since the last cruise with them 1 year ago;
No Brunch
No drinks waiter at the evening meal table. (Table waiter does it) Wine sommelier is still in place (ours was very good).
Daily UK, USA etc news sheet has to be collected from Guest relations (usually involving a wait) instead of just picking up from a news stand.
Concierge class Afternoon Savouries now has to be ordered each day within a specific time frame and only delivered while you’re in. (and it’s only very basic.)
Concierge class fruit was just apples – used to be a bowl of fruit.
During our cruise the library was closed for all but the last 2 days.
Due to the virus everything was being served by the Staff so usually waiting for most things in the Oceanview restaurant inc tea / coffee etc.
1st day disembarkation at China took from 6.0am berthing until approx 1130 getting through Customs / Immigration & a 1 hour delay disembarking at Shanghai.
On the plus side – the entertainment was probably the best we’ve ever had on board & the Olympic restaurant meal was to die for.
Extra effort was also clearly being made to control the virus spreading with everywhere being given extra cleaning.
