New menus please!
Patricia Prince | January 24, 2015 | Celebrity Cruises | Celebrity Solstice
My disappointment on this cruise was that the Celebrity dining menu does not change from ship to ship. This was our fifth Celebrity cruise this year and I almost didn’t even need to look at the menu as they hadn’t changed. Food was however, excellent, well presented and we had very good service.
The cruise itself was good although there were lots of sea days. We left Honolulu for Maui then down to the Island of Tahiti (great disappointment) but more than made up for by Bora Bora and Moorea. We went on a private tour on Bora Bora to swim with the rays and sharks – the highlight of our cruise and a must! We went with Patricks tours but you certainly need to book well in advance. After more sea days we reached New Zealand and on to Australia.
We enjoyed the extras given to Elite members, service by our cabin Steward and waiters. Select dining did give us freedom but to be honest we tended to eat at the same time and after a few days given the same table with our new friends. Don’t know if we will take Select dining again as we felt people were moving in and out whilst we were eating. Also there were sometimes queues at the door of people waiting for tables. As stated earlier this did not happen to us as we were given a set time and table,
Entertainment was a disappointment for us on this cruise – particularly the Formal Evening shows. They certainly did not achieve the high standard of those on the Constellation. The dancers were doing their best but the shows need better choreography and scenery.
Some of the individual entertainers were good but two pianists on one cruise was too much – particularly as they each performed twice!
The ship itself is beautiful, well maintained and we were never overcrowded. Plenty of beds available on deck and around the indoor pool. Lots of activities around the pool – hard working staff.
