Black sea cruise

This cruise to the Black Sea from Venice was our first with Cunard. We usually travel with Celebrity or Azamara.
The ship was superb and the bars were very comfortable and spacious. The staff were all very friendly and professional. Never seen a ballroom on a cruise ship before and it was stunning.
The space on deck was great. Never crowded and plenty of sunbeds. Just one downside was the constant loud taped music round the lido area. Not necessary at all!
The entertainment was fantastic. As good as we have ever had. The resident singers and dancers superb.
The Britannia dining room was lovely but the food was not. We found it boring, bland and not very enjoyable. The service was so slow to begin with (45 minutes before we got our starter) but once we complained the service did improve.
The ship is very formal with four formal nights and a jacket required at all other times. We found this a bit much for a twelve night cruise.
Bar drinks and wine are very expensive.
We found the ship a bit boring for us with not much atmosphere in the bars etc.
We booked this cruise about eighteen months before we went as it was a special occasion and Cunard reduced it by half a few months before departure. We didnƒ??t get any upgrade or on board spend to reflect the vast difference in the price we paid to the new price. So I would advise anyone not to book a Cunard cruise in advance as their price promise isnƒ??t worth anything.
We wouldnƒ??t cruise with Cunard again. Celebrity is about the same level and the food is vastly superior and the ship has a more fun atmosphere.
