Cruising from Southampton in January
B E Turrall | February 7, 2022 | Cunard | Queen Elizabeth
This was a first for us, due to the changes in ship intineraries we were very fortunate to take this cruise to Spain & Portugal. The ship was immaculate, Covid-19 protocols in place which made us feel comfortable and confident. The crew were amazing friendly, professional despite the challenges placed upon in their day to day work. We had some wonderful ports to visit – Cadiz, we missed Gibralter due to high winds so sailed onto Malaga. We then had a stay overnight so advantageous to us. Cartagena, Valencia and Lisbon. The mornings ashore were cool but did not stop us exploring. By afternoon it was pleasantly warm and sunny.
The ship is one of my all time favourites, even though to some it may looked dated I like the 20’s decor throughout. The public spaces are well maintained clean and easy to get around. Plenty to take part in onboard as you desire, we enjoy the gym so able to visit regularly. Some of the spa facilities were closed otherwise I felt the crew did their utmost to give us a good cruise.
The Britannia restaurant had a lot of tables for two which we prefer however they were very close together. We were fortunate to have an empty table next to us. Our food was good not exceptional but served hot with a satisfactory choice on the menu. Our stateroom was comfortable although looks dated now, this is not an issue for me.
