Canada Niagara Falls, New York, Southampton with QM2

The overall trip was good with the New York Southampton ride pleasant. But please be aware that Cunard are not backwards at coming forwards to take your money, we became teetotal knowing the price of the drinks plus 15% service charge. The Shows and speakers were excellent and the on board activities very varied. Food good. The only difficulty was the Amtrak train from Niagara to New York. No one told us that having loaded and stowed the luggage for the 10 hour journey that after 3 miles and 10 minutes we would have to disembark complete with cases for a 2 1/4 hour customs check at Niagara US. Returning to the train after a hour or so to get food from the one man buffet car but the excessive queue deterred us when we returned very little food was left only hot dogs and when we went back to get a drink with 5 hours left on the journey only black coffee and a cold drink were left. Big rush at Albany station to find a drink and food. The train was comfortable but the service poor.
